How to secure data in case of loss/theft?

Hello
I searched the archives with "secure AND data" but found nothing.
In case I lose my phone or get it stolen, I want to add some extra protection besides the PIN as set through Android's Settings.
Is there a way to require the user to enter another PIN when accessing MPE apps (Tasks and Notes)?
If not, I'll investigate third-party apps like AppLock:
