Unable to connect

Hi All of a sudden I am unable to connect to the phone. Am getting message Connection to phone could not be established: Failed to obtain the IP address of the phone. I have samsung s6 with marshmallow. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my mobile and restart the mobile but no solution. Is there a chance Samsung has deployed some security update to block it?

Please help!!

I assume you must be using wifi. There're loads of non-MPE reasons wifi won't connect. Search for other threads that talk about the same issue(s). Start by trying to 'ping' the phone from the PC. If this doesn't work then the two devices can't 'see' each other on your local network.

Oh, even before this you could reboot your PC AND reboot your router.

Since a couple of days we also have Marshmallow 6.0.1 on Galaxy S5 Duo. This morning several attempts to connect failed. The configuration in MPE had the correct IP address and I verified the MPE client was active showing the same IP Address.
Now the strange thing:
I changed the MPE desktop configuration from "fixed IP" address to "WiFi" and the connection (via F1) was established immediately.

Problem Solved: It had to do with the power saving mode of Samsung. That was what was creating the problem. The minute I disable the power saving mode, the connection takes place and am able to sync.
