Hi,
I have several Accounts in my phone (Google, Corporate, Phone, SIM). The first time I synced they were all copied in MPE. Now every time I want to sync ONLY those that I have in my phone memory, it also downloads into the Phone memory all the others. How can I avoid this?
Alternatively, I would be quite happy to delete all the others from MPE, if only I knew how to do it without of course deleting them from my phone accounts.
Please help!
Thank you |

I have found a way to delete contacts from MPE only. I went into appdata/roaming/MyPhoneExplorer/Myphonename and deleted Phonebook.dat.
Then I re-synced only my Phone contacts. |

Before fooling around with databases you might have checked the settings in the MPE client on your phone. There is a proper setting for that. |

Hi Koelner,
1. just because someone does not know how MPE works it does not mean that they do not know what they are doing
2. I checked the settings but I could not find a reply to either problem. Since you take the trouble to answer, perhaps it would be helpful if you told me where exactly I should check rather than being flippant.
3. consider the possibility that you have not understood my questions.

Might work for you but consider the effect for other users. They might take your advice and destroy their data. Not very helpful. |

The setting is set to "Phone" but I do not understand how this would solve either of my problems which were:
1. Contacts from ALL Accounts (Gmail, Corporate, Phone) being synced into Phone (I want MPE to sync only Phone contacts into Phone). However I have not been able to reproduce this problem so if no one else has had it I am OK to close it.
2. How to delete contacts from MPE without having the delete applied to the corresponding Account. I haven't figured out any other way than:
a. close MPE
b. from WExplorer, create a backup copy of Phonebook.dat with a different name
c. Delete Phonebook.dat
d. rerun sync with the appropriate settings
This solved the problem without any hassles.
Thanks for your help |

It´s still not clear what you did with which settings at the time.
First you took all your contacts into the MPE, then you set the MPE to only sync part of your contacts. Here it begins to get inconsistent.
The MPE is not self-explanatory in some parts but if you do everything carefully you should get the wanted result. And the most important thing is, that you not inadvertently lost any data.

Did you really do a SYNC at the first time you connected the phone with the MPE on your computer? You did not skip the sync and loaded all data from the phone into the MPE instead? It reads that way and if so, here did the trouble start. |

Bingo! If what you mean is that I clicked on the down arrow icon "download entire" that's probably exactly what happened! I had just installed MEP and that seemed like the right thing do to start using it.
So, I now understand that when you use that function all contacts from different accounts are sort of merged into MEP and then when syncing they are synced to whichever Account you had set in Settings.
So all good - the app did what it's supposed to do - but I think it proves my point that a help function is needed...
Anyway, thank you for your help.
I can go and give my donation now |
