I recently bought a Galaxy S5. After getting all my apps on the phone & getting everything configured, I started noticing after a couple of days that I was missing text messages. I don't mean they weren't showing up, I mean I myself wasn't hearing the "ding" of their arrival.
I did a bit of testing, and find that...if MPE is the default app, this phone turns off the ringtone for SMS.
I have checked the "Silent mode" setting in MPE, it's turned off so it's not that.
Looks like this one's another casualty in the battle over the Default App problem.

And what exact happens with the SMS notification sound after the primarily App has been restored?

Ringtone works without any further interaction if the primary App is restored.
