How do I move photos from the system DCIM to external drive?
currently I am stuck browsing and limited to moving files around in either system "memory card" or "external storage" and can not move around between the two levels.

I can do this sort of move from the phone file manager itself,
however that is the point of using such excellent app as the MyphoneExplorer

Its currently not possible to move files between two pysically different storages.

Ummm.... don't you have an option in camera application for external storage (microSD) to be default place for photos?

And... can you try 2-step multi-sync?
From device to PC and then from PC to microSD?
