Since upgrading to Android 4.4.2 on my Galaxy S4 I've had a problem with the phone nagging me about the default messaging app. When I specify MPE as the default and try to message on the phone it always asks me if I want to change my default messaging app to "Messaging," the phone's on-board app. If I say no it won't let me do anything except read the messages--no replies, no new messages. To message on the phone I must change the default to "Messaging" and then change it back when I want to sync MPE on the computer. Is there a way to reconcile this? It would be nice if I can use "Messaging" when not connected to MPE and "MPE Client" when connected, without the hassle.
Or, is there a way to message from MPE Client? If so, I don't see a way. |

Yep, it's a "feature" of the newest version of Android. Nothing (from what I've read) that we mere mortals can do about it. |

How are most of you handling this? For the time being I'm just changing the default messaging app back and forth.
Update: Just talked to VZW and Samsung, and they say it's a Google problem, which is a conclusion I had already made. They said there's no fix and no way to retrofit Jellybean. Bummer. As TheLandYacht already mentioned, we're just going to have to live with this until either Google or MPE can effect a solution.
Maybe MPE can develop a way to allow handling messages on the phone through MPE Client. |

That actually doesn't sound like a half-bad idea, a bare-bones basic messaging app on the phone would prevent the need to switch back&forth when connected/not connected to a PC.

MyPhoneExplorer can just show a confirmation message so that the user will change the default sms app for temporarly usage. I know its a bad idea, but there is currently no better solution for it. |
