sudden development: no more connection

Samsung Galaxy S2, Android 4.1.2, Windows 7, MPE up-to-date

For the first time I had a balloon telling me that the device driver was being installed when I plugged in my phone via USB. After that I couldn't sync any more - no connection can be established. I use the ClockworkMod universal driver.

I don't get any option to choose "only charge phone."

I'd be eternally grateful if you could help.

Hast du den Debug-Modus an deinem Telefon aktiviert? Den braucht man nämlich für eine Verbindung via USB.

Thanks for your response. One of the first things I checked was whether the de-bug had somehow deactivated itself, but everything was set up just as before. As I say, I had no problems with syncing until I got this balloon on the PC saying that the device driver was being installed. MPE on the computer tells me that nothing is connected via USB, even though the app on the phone says that the phone is connected via USB.

Any help would be much appreciated - Being able to sync with the computer is of course one of the most important features of this wonderful programme.

I'll do that tomorrow morning when I get back to my computer - I already have the universal ClockwordMod drivers. Do I have to uninstall them first or is that handled by the installer?

I don´t see any reason to uninstall the actual drivers manually.

btw: living in cologne/writing english? just curious

After installing the driver, the phone connected automatically via Wi-Fi, which is not what I prefer, since it uses up power. I then chose in the MPE client to connect by USB, but when I reconnected, the phone still connected via Wi-Fi! But it'll do for now.

Any suggestions about how to connect via USB? That always used to work without problems, even though I had MPE on autodetect.

Mein Deutsch ist gut genug, aber für solche technische Angelegenheiten ziehe ich es vor, auf Englisch zu schreiben. Aber . . . wie wissen Sie, dass ich in Köln bin?

Ok, check the client settings. Maybe it´s set to autoconnect via Wifi. If so, disable that.
In the MPE settings on your PC change the way of connection from automatic to USB, that should do.

How it comes I know you´re in cologne? I´m a magician.

Well, I gave up on USB because it wouldn't work, but WiFi worked, so I was happy enough.

Now though, nothing works again. I tried with a fixed IP address, taken from the MPE client on the phone, but that didn't work either. I'm back on autodetect, with the phone plugged in to the USB, but I still get error messages. I'm sending the log file.

I'd be very grateful if you could help again.

USB: The ClockWork Mod drivers are not good for some devices, there is a Samsung Driver Package in the web, please use this. If you are not sure then install Samsung KIES which also installs the original drivers. If it does not help then check the devicemanager of Windows if there is an Entry called "Samsung ADB Interface".

WiFi: Please set the connection to "WiFi" and not to "Automatic", then restart MyPhoneExplorer and try it again. By the way: 192.168.0.127 does not look like a valid IP for your phone, the WiFi IP of your phone is shown in MyPhoneExplorer Client on your phone.

Dear FJ,

I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to reply, but everything was working fine (using WiFi) until today. Now I can't get a connection again. I've tried opening and closing everything and starting again, I've changed from Automatic to WiFi but all to no avail. I can't see any reason why anything should be different from how it was the last time I synchronised.

I have the device "Samsung Android Interface" in my device manager, and the IP number which you questioned is indeed the one given on the MPE client on the phone.

But what I would really like to do is return to the USB connection I used to have. This seems quite impossible: even though my MPE client on the phone says I'm connected via USB and I'm charging the battery, the MPE on the PC says there is no USB connection.

I think your programme is a wonderful idea, and it does everything I could want, but at the moment it's just proving difficult. Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry - the Samsung Android Interface I have is apparently the one from ClockworkMod. Should I uninstall it and download something from Samsung? I tried doing that before, and somehow ended up with two drivers - and I still didn't get a connection. I'm very reluctant to download the massive and bloated Kies programme again.

Please install the beta and try to connect via USB again: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe
The beta will push some infos from the Devicemanager into the logfile, this will make it easier to help you.

Thanks for your reply. I installed the version you suggested, but the same problem arose. I get the wifi connection, but I don't get the USB connection, even when I use the setting USB only. It tells me there is nothing connected via USB, even though the MPE phone client says it is connected via USB.

On the phone I get the status information "Connected as a media device."
