Problem connecting Galaxy S4 to MPE

Hi,

In the past 2 years I have been using MPE 1.8.4 with my Droid 3 phone to sync contact and notes between Outlook and the phone via USB cable. It worked fine.

Recently I changed to a Galaxy S4 (flashed, rooted). When I tried to connect the new phone to MPE (Add user), an error message appeared saying "connection to phone could not be established: no device attached to USB".

I checked and made sure that 'USB debugging' is enabled on the phone, and upgraded the MPE to the latest 1.8.5 version, and installed Kies 3 according to the instruction to install ADB driver for the phone, but after all these actions, the connection still failed.

I remember having similar problems when I got my S4. I THINK what I remember doing is...

1. Uninstalling the ADB that's currently installed.
2. Uninstalling the driver for your (previous) phone.
3. Download & install the latest driver from Samsung for USB for that phone.
4. Download & install the latest version of ADB.
5. Make sure developer mode is turned on in your phone (there's a trick to it with the newer phones) http://gs4.wonderhowto.com/how-to/enable-hidden-developer-options-your-samsung-galaxy-s4-0146687/
5A: Plug in your phone. (I found it worked best for me to do this step is done via USB Connection
6. Start MPE, go to File/User/Add User.

That should get you in...it worked for me.

@oxmumu: Please check the device manager of windows. There should be a entry called "Samsung ADB Interface" is it theer or do you see other entries with a exclamation mark ? Also test another USB Cable.

@Thierry Champetier de Rib: You have to confirm a security message the first time when MPE wants to access your phone via USB cable. If it is not shown then search for a option in the phone to reset the "Trusted computers for USB-Debugging"
