Duplicates in Android Thunderbird sync

Hi
I've ended up with a load of duplicate contacts on my Android 4.2 Galaxy S after accidentally syncing contacts to Google. Not sure exactly how this happened but I've disabled syncing with Google now. I usually just sync the phone direct to Thunderbird over wifi. My Thunderbird address book seems fine so I deleted all contacts on the phone and resynced, selecting to force program to phone. However the same contacts (about 95% of them) were duplicated again.

I see the contacts are duplicated in MPE too so I repeated the procedure, deleting them on the phone but this time selecting all in MPE and deleting so they all have a red X against them. But when I do the sync I get all the duplicates again.

Basically I want to delete the contacts in MPE too and rewrite the phone from Thunderbird but MPE seems to be holding on to its own duplicated list and writing that to the phone even when they're marked for deletion.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

MPE has a "reflection" of the phones contents. Delete all contacts on the phone, then in the MPE client on your PC do a 'download entire' (the big blue arrow at the top). The MPE client should now have no contacts either. Then sync as normal and that should fix it.

Hey, many thanks for that. You fixed it!
Sorry I've only just seen this but despite 'watching' this topic, I didn't get a notification.
