Windows 8.1 native calendar no sync no see

I have been using MyPhoneExplorer on an XP very satisfactorily for several months but I have had to get a new PC which is running Windows 8.1
I installed MyPhoneExplorer version 1.8.5 (full). It doesn't find the new Windows calendar (the one native to Windows 8.1 - I don't think it has another name) and there is no option in the MPE software other than MyPhoneExplorer or iCal file or Google. So I installed Desktop iCalendar Lite in the hope that it would find this iCal file and solve my problem. It did not. I assumed it meant the iCal file was on the PC and not on the Android Phone so I tried forcing it with file:\\name_of_file. No luck there either.
I searched the forum and found no exact duplicate of my problem but I did find various mentions of the fact there should be an option to choose Windows as the calendar in MPE. I don't know why this option isn't available so I uninstalled MyPhoneExplorer and installed MyPhoneExplorer (portable) in the hope that it was an error in translation. No go either.
Long story short. How can I get MyPhoneExplorer to find and sync either with Windows Calendar or with Desktop iCalendar Lite? Please anyone?
Thanks for your trouble,
Anne
