MPE does not sync Contacts properly

I have set MPE & Outlook 2010 to sync with “Same priority” setting.
Here is the sequence to see when the problem occurs:
Please note that both my smartphone and Outlook are in perfect sync before I start editing.

1. In Outlook, on my PC, I create a new contact and update two others.
2. Later on, during the afternoon, I run the synchronization and MPE presents me with:
- 40 entries to be deleted (use elements from the phone)
- 1 new entry to be added on the phone.
This is totally wrong!
I then cancel the sync, open MPE settings and verify what sync method I have selected. For Contacts I confirm as seeing that I have the correct settings as above mentioned “Same priority”.

Then I close out and run again the sync. This time MPE presents me with:
- 2 entries to be deleted (use elements from Outlook)
- 1 entry to be created (create a new entry on the phone).
This second time it is perfectly right.

This happened already two other times. Is it possible to know what is going on? I do not trust MPE functioning this way as cannot rely on it syncing without having to check anytime.

If this can help please keep in mind I have always had synchronization log file enabled since I first started using MPE.

Please advise…

There is definitely something wrong happening which could be reletaed to something as simple as the times/timezones being different/incorrect bwteen phone and PC. However, what I do in cases like these is to "start again", the SW equivalent of rebooting your PC! I know it may not find out what the problem is and so there's always the chance it could happen again but it usually gets around the issue.

If you're like me you use the PC as your "master" copy (I too use Outlook 2010 but on XP Pro then you can delete all contacts on your phone (clear 'contacts storage' will do it from memory). Then in the MPE client on the PC do a 'Download entire' (the big blue arrow!). This will download all phone contacts to MPE on the PC and, as there aren't any, so 'zero' the MPE contacts database. Don't worry, this won't delete your copy in Outlook.

Then check that the phone and pc have the same time/timezone/date etc and they are both correct. Check all MPE settings on the phone and PC the sync again, thus downloading your entire Outlook contacts database to te phone. All should now be OK.

A couple of other things to check. I use my phones 'google account' to load contacts to BUT I do not sync with Google online. If you use the Google acount as well it could be that the phone is also sync'ing with your online service thus getting a little 'confused' ...

Also check for other posts regarding the use of 64-bit windows. I've seen issues raised but can't remember the details as they don't affect me.

Hi,
sorry for not replying sooner but I have been sick.
I tried to follow all your suggestion but nothing seems to solve the problem. Also, do not know how to verify if time is the same on the smartphone and on the PC (but I would assume so).
Also check for other posts regarding the use of 64-bit windows
I was unable to find threads for this. if they exist please if someone can post a link so I see what is happening and see how to fix it.

Basically, after several days of troubleshooting I can confirm and affirm that the software properly sync contacts and calendar ONLY when I run the sync for the second time. When I first sync it always prompt several contacts or calendar events that have not been even modified. I then cancel out and run, after few seconds, a a second sync. This time and this time only it performs properly. This should not be they way to operate, right?

I do not know how to fix it. Please help.

Thank you,
Spiro

You can reproduce this issue whenever you want ? This is very good since i did hear sometimes about the issue but i was never able to reproduce it. Please install the latest beta and launch MyPhoneExplorer in Debug-Mode (Start->Run->myphoneexplorer debug->OK), try again and after two syncs (first wrong and aborted, second correct) you send me the logfile via email.

Hi,
I was able to replicate same issue and submitted documentation to developer via email, being my data private and sensitive.

Thank you,
