So I'm hoping to move from an older Samsung Galaxy S2 to a newer Samsung Galaxy Note 1. After learning that MPE did not have this feature I tested this method.

1. Created a Backup of the source handset.

2. Edited the .mpb backup file name to the user name of my new target phone.

3. Connected my new target phone, performed a Restore Backup.

All data was transferred to my new handset!

I would expect problems doing this however with very dis-similar handsets, be careful.

Ist not needed to edit the *.mpb File manually. The Backup/Restore process is designed to work across models. You get a warning message if you connect another model, but ist only a warning, not an error.
