Prompt bug about duplicate messages in archive

Hello,

The first time I run multi-sync after MPE startup, I always get this message:

http://imgur.com/Ps7xDJi

which reads: "Some messages are already in the archive. Copy identical messages to the archives?"

This happens even if the messages on the phone and the archive hasn't changed at all.

The answer is of course "no" all the time - I don't want duplicates. Is it possible to avoid this messsage?

I'm running portable, and I had the same problem on 1.8.3 as the recent 1.8.4. Windows 8, 64 bit.

Getting same problem - any fix for it? Cheers

FIXED: (sort of) in the end, I just deleted the archive data. There wasn't a lot I needed to keep so just made copies of the important stuff. Once deleted, I did a re-sync and it's been fine since.

UPDATE: NOT fixed - problem is back again! Only had about 20 items in the archive and today, when syncing, the message came back. NOTE: this error message only seems to appear once on the very first sync of the day.

Never had this issue on my development phones but i know it happens often. Are you using any SMS replacement apps ?

I think Facebook Messenger is an SMS replacement app, but I deactivated the functionality long time ago. I also think Viber can send SMS. Anyway I uninstalled both. That didn't help. No other apps as far as I can see replaces SMS on my phone.

No, all stock sw. Nothings been changed, it just started to do it. Is there a messages-reset option to rebuild the database/backup?

OK guys.
Please make a copy of the file SMS.dat in the profilefolder of MyPhoneExplorer (Start-Run-%appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer-OK). Then refresh the messages and send me the SMS.dat-File and the logfile zipped with a link to this thread via email.

Any updates - still getting this error and it blocks the sync until you acknowledge it. Its getting a right pain in the butt now! Cheers.

29 Nov 2013. A fix (of sorts). I uninstalled the app and used Piriform CCleaner (nice bunch of apps) to tidy up the reg, etc. I also removed any folders relating to MPE for the PC, ie backups etc, and then did a fresh install. In the first few times it sync'd it asked the same query BUT it also had a check box 'not to ask again' about copying duplicates in, which I selected. Since then I have sync'd OK and not got the message. So, I can only presume there is a flag/reg entry that stores this checkbox status and in the previous installation it either wasn't enabled or was being ignored.

I used to get this issue but found here in the German section

http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=373

If you add the following line to the main section of general.ini found in

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\MyPhoneExplorer\general.ini

or

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\general.ini

MyPhoneExplorer no longer gives this prompt
The line to add is as follows

NeverCreateDuplicatesInMessageArchive=1

Hmm, that's odd as I don't get the message now but my general.ini does not have that line it in!

Didn't work here. I'm running portable, so my general.ini file is located under Data in the application folder.

You missed the point, I don't have the problem now (after reinstalling) but neither do I have that line it to flag it so where is it set?
