Outlook not offered as a sync option

I just installed your program and am able to connect to my Sony Xperia ion, but I am only being offered to sync contacts with Windows Contacts, Thunderbird, and Gmail. Did I have to install one of the adware apps for Outlook to be enabled? If so, I'd much rather donate something instead... but first I'd prefer to see the program working. I called myself reading the FAQs and performed a forum search, so I apologize in advance if I missed something obvious.

I'm using Outlook 2003 32-bit with the add-in and MPE 1.8.4 (WinXP Pro SP3) and it works fine. No adware what I can see.

What versions are you using? The information may help a bit

Adware was only an install option

I declined all those offerings, so I only speculated that it might be the reason that I wasn't offered Outlook as a option. I'm running Windows 8 Pro with the latest versions of Outlook and MPE. However, I don't recall any "add-in". Where does one get that for Outlook?

Outlook not offered as sync option

Jim, I just installed MPE 1.8.4 last night on a new Sony VAIO Pro13 running Windows 8 Pro and Office 2013. I too can no longer choose Outlook for syncing my HTC One. Windows Contact is all that I can see.

I was doing so fine on a different Win7 Home Premium Sony VAIO laptop, which originally had Office 2007 on it. This was upgraded to Office 2013 as well in May, but MPE continued to work w/Outlook 2013 Contacts even though MPE settings still saw it as Outlook 2007 for some reason.

I am going to keep looking into this as I really don't want to use HTC Sync at all, but I need a way to sync contacts from Outlook. Perhaps coming back around and syncing Outlook Contacts over the web to Google, and then Google contacts into MPE is a workaround, but as bunch of wasted transfer.

Let me know if you figure this out, and I will do the same.

Best,

Roland (Rollie) Schmidt

Use the Search function and search for 'Outlook 2013'. There you'll find hints for a solution. As I remember Outlook 2013 support is provided by the new beta version of MPE. How to download this is also explained in the search results.

http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe For those following my trevails, you have to download this beta version to get access to Outlook 2013. On first glance, all appears to work now.

Thanks Joachim! I found what I needed here: " Outlook is not supported in the official version 1.8.4 cause it was released before Outlook 2013. In the current beta it should work: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplo ... Update.exe

Once I downloaded this and installed, then uploaded (automatically) the client and reinstalled on HTC One, everything worked flawlessly w/Outlook 2013 and now offers Outlook 2013 as a source for Contacts, Events/Tasks and Notes unter File->Settings in MPE.

Best,

Rollie

i have also outlook 2013 and it does not work
My mistake : i let MS proceed some updates in May 2013. They block My phone explorer. Basically now The My phone explorer is not anymore recognized as a valid Add-ins. Results : you cannot tickmark it in outlook add-ins menu
Result : game over Phone explorer does not work anymore with outlook 2013... so sad... it works flawlessly during 3 months .. the time that they "upgrade" MS to prevent such addins to works ... Such a beuatiful world :):)

I don't have experience with exactly this problem but I would deinstall MPE, download the DebugUpdate version (see above) and install it.

thats not possible....after deinstalling the normal version, you cannot install the update. the update needs the original

There are two different situations to use DebugUpdate or to completely new download & install.

1. Problems with Outlook 2013 mostly are solved by installing the DebugUpdate Version from here: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplo ... Update.exe (More hints: Use search function and search for 'Outlook 2103')

1a. Or use the beta version of 1.8.5 (supposing that it includes the changes of the DebugUpdate version): http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20420

2. Problems with ADB driver. Try this: Deistall MPE, make new download from MPE homepage and install (also see here: http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20384)

2a. Or try the universal ADB driver: http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20397

I already tried 1 and 1a. without success (FYI MSOFFICE 2013 installed on the machine (SONY VAIO DUO 11 WIN8 64 BITS) is a pure legitimate paid MS Entreprise version)

I will try option 2 ...

BUT THANKS ANYWAY JOACHIMS for your support :)

I tried everything that has been explained 1, 1a, 1b, 2 etC ..
I guess i did not explain well.

The issue is that MyPhoneExplorer_OutlookAddIn.dll is NOT ANYMORE a valid Office Add-in.

Worst of it, it was!!!!!! before!!!!!
But now, it is no longer a valid Office Add-in.

At least if my experience can help people not to do the same big mistake

NEVER EVER UPDATE MS OFFICE.
When you do that it adapts itself to what you have such as add-in and create patch to reject your Add-in so that you comply to MS OFFICE policy.
And the policy is quite clear. MS does not want that you SYNC android woth outlook so that you are FORCED to use their environment.

And MS environment EXCLUDE google environment. IT means that Adnroid is not anymore compatible with MS OFFICE.

I do not even believe that there is a solution to this problem, since they did it on purpose. It is not a bug. It is delibarately dedisgned so that we CANNOT sync an adnroid with outlook unless you have a windows phone .

I would like to hope to be wrong but after having spent hours on the web and looking at thousands of message experiencing excatly the same thing than what i am writing right now, I am not that naive to believe that it just an UNFORUTNATE bug ...

Anyway, I would like to thank FJ Software and the community for their attempt to help.

Thanks to all of you :)

The Outlook Addin is not needed for the sync, its optional.
Please post the logfile after you tried to sync with Outlook or is the entry missing for you in the settings?

Do not have outlook as an option in the setting menu

Insert your Office-CD and click on "Repair". MyPhoneExplorer does check for the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.Application\CurVer. This key is created from the Office setup normally
