I use Outlook as a personal addressbook. This means that I use one entry for a family, and include separate phone numbers for the various members of the family.
Outlook has only limited choices in phone number titling, so I include a short text after a number to indicate it's purpose, like:
(651) 555-1212 cellJack
MyPhoneExplorer seems to strip out the text from the phone numbers, so that in the phone I can no longer tell which number is for which member of the family.
Can you allow text along with phone numbers in the phone # fields? |

Not sure about answering your exact question but I figured out a while ago that the best way to use Outlook was to have one family member per contact as there is no real way to label several people's phones under the same main contact number. For example, my brother has two kids so there I would have had 4 people under the same address but all with different mobile numbers. My brother has 2 mobile numbers to complicate things further.
So, not answering your question but just indicating that I found it much easier to use my method above. |

Your method is better at this point only because MPE won't leave text in the phone number field. If it did as I am requesting, the problem would be solved and all family members could fit in one contact. Your method is extra work, since everyone has all the exact same information except for their personal cell number.
On my computer, the field does accept text, so all is well. The text gets stripped off when MPE moves it to my telephone. (Droid X2) |

I guess I don't find it that much more work because I've been doing this way for years. Cut and paste is a wonderful thing ... But, yeayh, technology is meant to work 'for' us, do things the way we want. It's a shame it doesn't always work out like that .... |

Alot of phone models are not able to handle text inside a phone number. Cause of this MyPhoneExplorer makes the phone number "valid" for the phone. Its not planned to change this behaviour. |
