After phone has reconnected to home wifi router.
In MyPhoneExplorer program window I press F1 to connect the phone, MyPhoneExplorer does not 'find' phone.
It reports:
Connection to phone could not be established:
Failed to obtain the IP-address of the phone.
In settings have tried 'Connect Via' to wifi and also entered IP address manually, makes no difference.
To correct problem I have to close and reopen client on phone. I may have to do this three times before connection is successful.
Once connected, all works OK until I leave phone for a hour or more and then the same thing happens again.
Any help would be appreciated.
Nigel

My get the same error message, but re-trying doesn't help.
I managed to connect and sync contacts, but it didn't sync calendar or tasks. When I tried to re-sync, it then returned to the "can't find" problem. |

One thing I have noticed is that if the re-connection does fail, sometimes if I go to Internet on phone and refresh what ever page is open, then try re-connecting MPE, it connects.
This only sometimes works!
Is it possible the phone's wifi is going to sleep and needs 'waking up'? |

Yes, thats possible. It depends on the model, some models are very strict to save energy. Did you check already the WiFi Standby Policy of the phone ? |

Sorry to re-activate an old thread but this problem still persists.
The reason I did not continue with this thread was that I was getting a new handset soon and expected this problem to go away.
Now have new handset, unfortunately the problem has not gone away (see Sig for details)
Any help would as ever be appreciated.

Is this still the same with your new phone ?
Restart your WiFi Router, it seems you own a Samsung phone now - for this phones i know that there are no WiFi issues (on the phone side). |

Reopening the client very rarely resolves the problem.
Yes, I have changed from a Desire to an S3.
I tried restarting the router but that has made no difference. |

Does it work if you connect to the phone directly with the connection method "Fixed IP" ? Are you able to ping the IP of the phone when MPE is not able to connect? |

I have recently updated my routers firmware. It is a:
Netgear DG834GT.
I installed a custom firmware (V1.03.22 - DGTeam Rev. 1018), not the Netgear official firmware.
Since then the phone has remained connected with no problems so far.
I am waiting to see what happens! I suspect it was some problem in the Netgear firmware.[/u] |
