MyPhoneExplorer "not responding"

I've used MPE for about a year now. Within the past couple of months when I connect my Motorola XPRT (via USB cable) to my computer (running Win 7) and start-up MPE (v. 1.8.4) it seems to sync the contacts just fine then hangs up during syncing the organizer with Outlook 2010 and I got the message "not responding" . Sometimes it will sync properly on the first connection of the day, but not always. Very frustrating. I have tried different settings and even uninstalled and reinstalled the software but nothing seems to help.
