Also, is it possible to force a carriage return into the SMS composition text box? Shift-Enter, Ctrl-Enter and Alt-Enter either send the SMS or don't do anything. Implement something like the Facebook tick to toggle status of Enter key, or don't attach Enter key to Send button? |

The previous SMS I never saw... |
Hi,
Thanks for this.
There don't seem to be any SMS settings to control how the Enter key works in any setting menu!
Not sure why the PC shows the previous SMS -- my Galaxy has sometimes been getting duplicate SMSes from the telcom, wonder if that is a factor. |

I never saw this issue. Are you using any SMS-Replacement-Apps on the phone ? Handcent, Go SMS,... ? |

No, I don't think so, just that native one. And the problem is only recent.
I wonder if there is some sort of SMS 'counter' that is out of sync by one or something?
It's Android 2.2 also (FROYO.DTJP5), there is an upgrade available to 2.3 which I keep meaning to put on. |

Or does you not using the "control mobile" so far? |
Yes, I use that, that's what I am having the other problem with, is there a way to introduce a carriage return in the message? When you press any special key (Shift , Ctrl , Alt) and Enter it just seems to send the message. Whereas the Android keypad and SMS writer lets you put carriage returns in. |

yes, just the right-click 'New Message' option and simple textbox, where you can send an SMS from your PC via your phone -- you get a textbox and an address lookup button etc. There appears to be no way of inserting a carriage return in the textbox -- whenever you try Shift-Enter or Ctrl-Enter etc to see if you can generate a new line in the message, it just sends the incomplete message as though the Enter key (Send button) was pressed.
My point is that on an Android handset/software keyboard itself there is a carriage return button feature that lets you enter a new line, but not in your software. It's a bit similar to the new Facebook feature with the check box that lets you select whether you want 'Enter' to post the message, or to insert a new line.
Don't get me wrong, MPE is a great package, I've paid €15 already as a donation! |

You can normally enter a new line in the window "New message". it should not send the message with a single "Enter". I just tried it and it works. Please update to the current beta so we have bothe the same state for testing: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe |

hmm, that's OK, I've just tried it again now and it works
It might have been that the text box was not in the focus when I was hitting Enter -- so it was defaulting to the default 'Enter' action for the entire applet which was to press the Send button.
Re the other problem where I seemed to be getting a previous SMS notification coming up on receiving a new SMS, I haven't noticed it do it for a while -- whether it will do it again in future, I don't know. I was simultaneously having a problem where for some reason I was receiving multiple copies of the same SMS, but didn't know if it was the phone service or the handset that was causing the problem -- and it might be related to the asynchronous problem.
So nothing to do!
Thanks for looking at the problem though! |
