Phone Messages Not Showing as Read

When I message through MPE, the messages for some reason are showing as read in my phone. I remember having this issue before and I can't remember how I resolved it. I updated MPE on the Android yesterday which is when this happened. Now every time I sync, all of these messages come up as unread.

It's the update that happened last week. Android version 4.4.2. I had to do a work around which was change my phone to "yes" when it asks do I want to change my default message folder to MyPhoneExplorer. That's the only way I can do anything. I can't archive, sending texts don't work right and messages never show as read on the phone. When I'm done on my computer, I have to change my default folder back. It's a bummer. Do you have any way to work around this?

Thank/blame Android for that, then. With the recent update, only the default messaging app has the permissions necessary to mark messages as read. MPE will let you mark 'em as read in the software, but it doesn't "take" on the phone, so next time you sync, the phone says "nope, those messages are unread".

This problem's pissing a lot of people off, and not just those of us using MPE...anyone using a 3rd party messaging app is getting hit with problems because of this.

I hear you. I have been asking around and everyone is agreeing. I'm hoping MPE is going to work on fixing it. Until then, I have a work around but it's just a pill. I tell my phone to let MPE be the default text account. When I'm done, the alert will pop up and I change back. It's cumbersome but works.
