The photo transfer does not move the files into the right folder but saves them in ...\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\HTC One X [359188044024719]\Cache\sdcard\DCIM\100MEDIA - this is a hard directory to find! Took me ages to find out what was going on!

That's the cache path. You'll find (you can set) the correct path under menu File > Settings > Advanced 2.

best regards...

Thanks for the tip but I'm aware of this and the path was already set correctly. MPE is just ignoring this address and dumping photos in the cache dir.

And sorry, but I've probably not given you enough info. Am using a completely fresh install on Win8 and Office 2013 (32bit) using the nightly build (09/02/2013) of 1.8.4 as recommended here for Outlook 2013 users.

Anyone listening?

Where is your output folder for photos ? Is it on the same drive ?
- Please run MyPhoneExplorer in debug-mode: Start-Run-myphoneexplorer debug-OK
- make a new photo with your phone
- do the photo sync
- post the logfile here

Log file as requested

The destination for the photos is not on the same drive but on a local NAS: \\QUAD\Media\Photos\_new pictures to be sorted\Simons HTC\

This is the same address I have always used and has always worked in the past, so something must have changed recently.

The log file is too large so I'll email it...

For all others - the problem was fixed inbetween.

Thank you for sorting out the initial problem with photos not being copied from the cache onto my NAS.

However, I have just discovered that the PC maintains a copy of my photos in the MPE cache after they have been send to the NAS. I assume the copes are kept so that MPE knows which photos have been copied to the eventual desination, and which haven't. If I was running windows on a huge HD then I guess it wouldn't matter too much.

But I am running on an SSD with limited capacity and so it's not possible for me to maintain this huge cache (it's currently over 5GB which is a significant part of my SSD capacity). But if I delete it, I am guessing MPE will simply replace it again with the photos on my phone, and I will get mutliple copies on my NAS.

Can you please come up with a more elegant solution to this? Can't you, for example, just maintain a list of the photo & video files on the phone and maybe the file-size (or some other method of ensuring it's the same file) so that the cache can be cleared once the files have been copied. In fact, you won't need to copy the files to a cache at all, but straight to the destination, which will speed up the transfer enormously (it takes AGES to upload photos from my phone).

Thoughts?

The internal filecache of MyPhoneExplorer has technical reasons. There is a option in Menu-File-Settings-Advanced 2: "Delete file cache when MyPhoneExplorer is closed" -> activate this

OK, i'll try this, but will MPE then try and download all the photos from my phone the next time I sync to recreate the file cache? If so this is even worse than wasting the space on my SSD as this will take a long time and waste read/write cycles on my SSD (of which there is a large but finite amount).

MyPhoneExplorer does use the cache only fro transferred files. Since the photosync does transfer only new photos the cache will be not used in this case
