I'm been searching high and low for a decent note taking app with a Windows and Android client that allows local syncing as in no Internet access involved (not a fan of Evernote/Catch).

MPE Notes appears to be the only app that does this but it could use some improvements.

The easiest improvement to make would be to add an "Add Notes" menu item on the Windows 7/8 jump list menu. This would make it easier to create a note from the desktop (Tomboy Notes for Windows has this feature). Adding a command line parameter to start MPE on the Notes section would be nice too.

The jump list menu could even be more useful if it will show the most recent notes/contacts created or opened. (Tomboy Notes for Windows has this feature too)

Another useful improvement would be to add a "Sync" button on "New note" window so you can optionally "push" the note from the PC to the phone immediately after creation.

Finally, it would be great if you can add folder support or at least color coding for better organization.

Any of these additions would be great but I can imagine the first suggestion should be easy to implement.

I will create a categories-support for the notes section in the next version. This is fix, for the rest: I'll take a look at it
