Hello,
I've been a user of MPE since my SE w810i and I really use it a lot.
But since I've updated my X10's and X10 Mini Pro's to Cyanogen 7.x I've got a strange problem when syncing / creating contacts.
My contacts are all stored on the Phone and I only use MPE to sync them.
But since the new firmware I get a new entry under Contacts next to Phone:
com.sonyericsson.localcontacts (Phone Contacts)
All my old contacts are listed under this 'Phonebook' while new ones are created under the Phone section.
I would like to have all my contacts under Phone again.
But even if I import contacts and try to change the account to Phone, MPE does not save it.
What can I do to fix this problem? |

It seems you have two local contact accounts cause of CM now. Please post the logfile after sync |

Hi,
I have a similar issue.
For some reason the sync of my contacts to my google account never worked with the HTC stock ROM (different story) so I sticked to the internal contacs (whatever this means in detail) + MPE.
I changed to Cyanogen 7.1 today and now I find a new entry com.htc.android.pcsc (pcsc) in MPE beside the old entries (all, phone, google). I synced all contacts from PC into the empty phone but now I have every contact twice in the phone. No idea how to sort this out yet.
I may update here once I find out

Update:
Before I started to experiment with custom ROM images I did
1) multi sync with the original ROM, e.g. backup everything into MPE on my PC
2) backup the MPE database into a file (Extras > Sicherung erstellen)
Now, I just connected my phone (running Cyanogen 7.1 ROM) with the messed up contacts and tried what would happen if I click Extras > Sicherung wiederherstellen.
Magic: MPE cleaned up everything and re-created the all entries from the backup file. The strange com.htc.android.pcsc (pcsc) is gone and the phone shows a quite normal contact list now.
MPE even restored old SMS from the backup, I happyly noted that new SMS from today were not deleted by the restore (bug or feature?).
A comment or hint to some docs regarding how and where Android stores this data internally would be highly appreciated.
Best Regards |

Feature . Cause the usage of sms is not equal to the usage of contacts in my opinion
I often heard about this problems when CM is flashed onto HTC devices. As far as i know CM does remove the HTC Contact-Account but it does not delete the contact-accountinformations. If its shown now OK then i think it IS OK |

Thought I'd reply to this thread rather than start a new one as I'm having a similar issue. I've been messing about with different JB ROMs on my HTC Desire HD and all was well until recently. When I went to restore my contacts (to the 'local' google account) they didn't show up. However, when I checked my Contacts app settings (DW Contacts) I found that this listed a 'pcsc' Account (com.htc.android.pcsc). Checking this and my contacts show up. However, MPE was set to add contacts to my Google account and only gives the option of phone or Google. If I then set MPE to 'sync' on the 'phone' account it will sync, even though I told it to add to Google. If I try to re-sync on that Google account then MPE says 'no contacts on phone'.
Also, DW Contacts only shows my contacts in the 'pcsc' account. If I set that to show the 'phone' contacts, nothing shows up. Obviously something is happening, incorrectly, somewhere. Anyone got any ideas?
Oh, this is JB 4.2.1 (CodefireX) but it also happens with JellyTime (4.1.2).
NB: I'm sure this is NOT an MPE issue but thought someone here may have more of an understanding of what's happening. The weird thing is, the first JT I tried, all was fine, as was CodefireX. I upgraded JT to the latest version and things went wrong. Now when I go back to the version that worked before, none of them work now .... I do a flash after wiping caches etc etc
Any ideas? |

I'll post a reply to my own query .... Seems it's always best to sleep on things .... I "think" the problem was some sort of "defaults" issue. I went into apps management and cleared data for 'contacts storage', 'contacts' plus the data from my contacts app (DW Contacts), thus having no contacts on the phone at all. I fired up the MPE client on my PC and did a 'download entire'. That cleared all contacts data from MPE.
MPE on the phone was once again set to add to my 'Google' account on the phone. Did a sync and everything was downloaded AND visible when displaying only my 'Google' contacts. Did a re-sync (both ways) and all worked as expected.
What did I learn?
To sync a phone with new ROM a) ensure ALL contact data erased from phone, b) then 'Download entire' with MPE and only then c) carry out a sync.
(NB: I'm sync'ing with Outlook - your mileage may vary, etc etc).
Enjoy! |
