MPE Client Connects To GNS2000 GPS Bluetooth

Hi All,

I recently bought a GNS 2000 Bluetooth GPS device. It seems to connect well with my HTC Desire S running Android 4.0.4 under most circumstances.

However, for some reason, if MPE client (1.0.24) is "Waiting For Connection" and then I switch on the GNS 2000, MPE "connects" to it. It says "Connected via Bluetooth". I can't imagine why this would occur unless MPE has some location feature I'm not aware of.

However, the real problem is that if I want to then use "GPS Provider" app (mobile-j.de) in order to navigate somewhere, the app cannot connect to the GNS 2000.

It seems MPE hijacks the Bluetooth connection to the GNS 2000. The workaround is simply to exit MPE client first so it's no great bother as I am unlikely to be using my PC while driving.

If I start GPS Provider first then MPE client after, everything works fine. GPS Provider talks to GNS 2000. MPE talks to PC.

- Could you let me know if its deliberate to connect to the GNS 2000 via BT?
- I love both bits of software so can you make them get along together?

(I also reported this problem to the GPS Provider app developer).

MyPhoneExplorer does hijack nothing, it also does not connect to any bluetooth-target.

MyPhoneExplorer does host a serial Bluetooth-Service, the GPS device does see this Service and does connect to MyPhoneExplorer instead to the original - native serial port service.

Solution: In the settings of MyPhoneExplorer Client disable Bluetooth in the setting "Launch automatically". Then exit MyPhoneExplorer and connect to your GPS device as common.

Hijack may be a bad choice of word. No offence was intended. Apologies.
