Connection issues

Sometimes connection fails, even though the MPE client on the phone is running and the phone is showing good WiFi connection strength. If I reboot the router and try again it connects. HOWEVER, when I login to my router and look at Attached Devices I see the MAC ID of the phone attached to several different IP addresses! It's as if MPE doesn't know the phone is connected and asks for a new IP address. If I turn off the phone WiFi and turn it back on, the extra IP addresses disappear from the Attached devices list, keeping only the most recent one.

I realize this may be a router issue, but perhaps MPE could be an issue too?

TIA,

Ed

The way I use my router is to assign a specific ip address to some mac addresses on my network, including the two Android phones I have here. I don't know if I really need to do that as of now but when I set up MPE on the phones and connected via wifi to start with I had phone not found issues. Giving it a specific ip address seems to have solved that one.

On my router ( a Draytek) it's under the LAN seetings - 'bind ip to mac'.

See if that works.

I have discovered that when it fails to connect the solution is to exit MPE client on the phone, shut off WiFi on the phone, then turn WiFi back on, then start MPE client on phone.

Please check which version of the client of the phone is installed on the phone. 1.0.20 and 1.0.21 had WiFi Issues, 1.0.22 should keep the WiFi module of the phone awake with a higher priority. If this does not help then set a fixed IP for your phone in the DHCP-Settings of your router and then select in the settings of MyPhoneExplorer "Fixed IP"

Thanks.

I have 1.0.22 installed. It's not a big issue, though. I now power-down the phone when I go to bed and all's well when I turn it on in the morning.
