Sync with Windows Calendar/Contacts (Vista)

Hi!

Do you think it would be possible in the future to get MPE to sync with Windows Calendar and Windows Contacts? These programs are preinstalled in Windows Vista and actually sufficient for most home users. It could remove the need for the far more expensive Outlook.

It would be great if MPE had the ability to do this. I'm not sure if it's even possible though. I know Activesync (Microsofts own sync tool for Windows Mobile smartphones) don't have this option, at least at this point.

But anyway, it would be great if anyone could look into this. Consider it a humble contribution to the wishlist :)

Thanks, Alex

Thankyou FJ...yes it must be difficult if you don't have vista.
Shame a nice friendly OEM can't let you have a copy:-)

This really is excellent software though, better than the bundled rubbish that came with my W810i. I'll definately be making a donation.

...but I will probably change from Windows Mail to Thunderbird so I can sync contacts...makes more sense for the moment.

Thankyou.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before but I have found a way of getting MPE to sync with Vista calendar (sort of :-)).

Go into your Vista calendar storage dir, which is typically:

C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Calendar/Calendars

Create a copy of your calendar *.ics file there.

In MPE options, point MPE towards the copy:

file://C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Calendar/Calendars/MyPhoneExplorer.ics

Sync.

Open Vista Calendar & import from MyPhoneExplorer.ics to your calendar.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before & I know it isn't an ideal solution, but all you have to do is sync then import once a day.

Also in MPE you can export your entire address book as a vcard & import this into Vista contacts.
Again, sorry if it has been mentioned before & I know it is not a best solution...but it works so I thought i'd share it.
