Hi, I'm using android app over wifi with automatic launch when it detects my wifi network. After last update it seriously draining battery, ~4% per hour in idle state. If i disable automatic launch and close it all returns to normal ~1.5% per hour, like it was before update with automatic launch turned on.

Yes, this is normal cause the client keeps WiFi active (but when you enable automatic launch then you will be also noticed about this)

But with previous version I have automatic launch and wifi always on, and battery usage was 1.5% per hour in idle. I'm new to android, so I was checking battery usage often.

Thats also right, prior 1.0.20 there were connectivity issues when the screen went off. These are now fixed but it does cost battery. Its your choice to enable automatic launch or not

There was no issues on my side and battery lasts 3 days with no difference is auto launch on or off.

But now what is it for if battery lasts 1 day even without using the phone. Can you make a setting for this new mode? I need auto launch, but now it is useless with such battery usage.

You had maybe not this issue, but many people reproted it and i was able to reproduce it on one of my developer phones. Its not planned to make this feature optional

Just thought I'd dig up this old thread as I am seeing the same issue, but only with ICS ROMs. Seems that the way MPE keeps itself running when set to 'auto-launch on my home wifi' runs the battery down much more than it did. My wife is running a different ROM on her phone and hasn't seen any difference.

Is there any system setting that could be changed/tweaked to help this? I'm rooted so I don't mind altering system files if needed ......

Edited to add: I have the wifi settings adjusted to 'wifi off if sleeping'. So I'm assuming MPE keeps this from happening. Is there not any way to 'fine-tune' this so that we can 'optimise' (as far as possible anyway!) battery useage?
Oh, and I may be wrong about increased drain with ICS. I've not kept specific records on exactly which ROM I've been using against battery drain figures AND MPE app. version.

Thanks in advance.

MyPhoneExplorer Client keeps the WiFi Module alive, there is no finetuning where MyPhoneExplorer could control a littlebit more or a littlebit less battery drain. The only option is to keep a second priority WiFi Lock but as i said - this did not work on many devices.

But it works on some phones, and make a BIG difference. Please make an option for this feature.

Perhaps a good feature would be to connect-disconnect cyclically every, say, 5 minuts, 10, 15, 30, etc. It could enable it for like a couple of seconds and then disable it. I use MPE to reply to sms mainly (and many other things, but the only reason to keep it running 24/7 is the SMS thing). This should be optional, of course, but it would help a lot since there's no other workaround for the wakelock.
