ICS and contacts.

Right. This isn't really an MPE issue, more of a 'what the heck happens to contacts when you're on ICS' question. I've got an HTC Desire HD that's been rooted and have tried out several ROMs, the last couple have been ICS. I would like to stay with an ICS ROM but there seems to be an issue with contacts.

Seems like you need to point MPE at your Google' account on the phone, rather than the 'phone' account. The first ICS ROM I installed everything worked fine. Up popped my calendar and contacts sync'ed over wifi from my Outlook 2010 courtesy of MPE. The ROM I have now (an unofficial Cyanogenmod 9) works fine as well. Until you reboot, when the contacts disappear. The stock People app does NOT see anything after a reboot.

In all cases I've set up my Google account but then turned off ALL synchronisation, as I want to keep things local to my phone and PC. The calendar works fine, it's just contacts. Anyone have an idea as to what's going on?

I've seen a thread on the old 'interweb' which mentions the same problem but no real solution. I've tried the app mentioned in that thread ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ck.myaccounts ... but that doesn't work either. Anyone?

Edited to add: contacts get deleted after a reboot (though it sometimes takes 2 reboots) but call history does not ....

Its a known bug with this firmware version and there exists also issues about this in the Google Bugtracker. So for me no need do grab deeper into this. What is the problem with MyAccounts App ? For me this app works

Thanks for the reply FJ. No, I wasn't expecting you to do anything, I was just trying to find out what the issue was and I thought a couple of people had mentioned it here. I'm not too familiar with Google's bug tracking but when I did search nothing seemed to come up - probably my fault. I got as far as confirming that, at seemingly random intervals, my contacts2.db file gets overwritten but couldn't see why. I'd posted at the ROM thread on xda and on the CM forum with more details but no comeback. I guess I just ask hard questions ..... Very Happy

Oh well, I'll just have to go back to the first ICS ROM I tried. At least I can rely on MPE!!! Cool

You could also create a local contacts account in your phone with the app "MyContacts" and then push your contacts into this account. This should prevent you from this issue
