Great software once I got it working. Wanted to share my experiences to possibly help others save time.

- Could not get the phone connected via WiFi. Did not try BlueTooth. USB worked flawlessly.
- Tried several long and messy ways to install ADB Driver. Easiest way was to install the Samsung Kies... www.samsung.com/us/kies
- Yes you will end up w/ Kies on your pc but driver will be installed without messing w/ Java and command line stuff. I believe you can uninstall Kies once the driver is installed, but I did not try.
- MPE did not install automatically onto phone as mentioned in the FAQs. Did a search and install from App Market (also mentioned in FAQs).
- Connected phone to pc via USB
- Started MPE on computer and phone and tried to sync. NOPE
Kept getting a "Connection to Outlook failed" message Evil or Very Mad
- After some time (I am embarrased to say how long) of trying to get MPE to sync, I had to do some emailing. When I was done, I left Outlook open and tried to sync again. VOILA! Very Happy
- Apparently Outlook needs to be running before a sync can occur.

I am now super happy and will make a donation if I can figure out how since I do not use PayPal. Laughing

Hi all, I am new here, and share also my experience

I discovered this software yesterday, after a lot of issues with Kies provided with my Samsung Galaxy Note (Android 2.6).
At the end I was able to use Kies but it does not sync notes and owerall it does not sync files, so I looked for a software be able to do that : MPE.

And yes it is somewhat easy to use and really powerfull for many things I do not really use, at least not yet.

After installtion of MPE I was not able to use Kies anymore, the sync did not work for calendar and tasks.

@MarinTrader:
I do not totally agree because for me the install was totally automatic. In fact I discovered only after that MPE instaled some stuf on my smartphone.

Some remaks: (perhaps I still not discover the good way)
- PME do not manage well the linked pictures. It seems Kies did it better
- It do not seems to detect the change in the contact picture
- It do not sync attached picture to calendar/tasks/notes (that is a big wish for me) because I ofen Attach S-notes that are in fact pictures to calendar ot task from the phone & other kind of picture from Outlook.

Anyway I have to make a choice and Kies is definitivelly too huge, too slow and unstable. In addition to that is not able to sysnc documents or folders, so I adopt MPE for a while.

In fact before I was using Windows Mobile Mnager (ActiveSync) with a windows mobile phone and was very happy with it. But no way to find something similar for Android.

@Marin:Please install the current beta and tell me if it works also without launched Outlook then

@moscard: The picture topic was already heavy discussed in this forum. To compare Android with Windows Mobile is simply unrealistic cause Windows Mobile was build to work perfect with Outlook. Android is build to work perfectly with Google.

@FJ : Yes I discovered it. Nevertheless even with google there is no way to sync attached documents, at least I was not able to do it. In fact actually I am not able to sync a lot of thing:
- Contact : google say that thre are too much contact in my phone and propose to suppress a big part of them -> of course I did not agreed.
- Calendar : google sync it without issues, but no way to retrive my calendar entries in google agenda ?!

Do you find that "build to work perfectly with google", I am not so sure.

But probably I do not know how it works. In the past with my windows mobile phone and outlook it was simpler.

To be totally onest, this sync point is probably the lone defect I find to Android Phones, the new software plateform is amazing and we can find almost every thing we want. In addition to that the phones are working very well and smoothly.

What I have to do actually to sync most of the part of wha I need:
- Sync Phone with Outollok on a local windows session using MPE.
- Sync Local Outlook with a RemoteFX Outlook session using Sync2. I did not find a way to use the phone ports from remoteFX session. The ports are visible from de remote session, but even MPE or Kies are not able to use them.
- Sync the remoteFX outlook with a Lotus Notes server using Lotus connector for outlook.

Yes, I am sure, it probably possible to find a more complicated way. But the phone do not sync notes, tasks and calendar with Google, and I did not found why.

Many thanks for your answer.

I use same phone, windows and outlook as you have indicated, but I did not know that outlook has to be running in order for MPE to sync. Thanks for the tip!!

After first sync, contacts and calendar were OK, but no sync of outlook notes to either the native memo application on the phone, or the MPE notes app.
Since I have many notes on outlook and I want same on phone, but cudnt do it.

Any help is appreciated!!

@amsyh,
MPE use its own note and task interface and phone widget. If you corretly installed MPE, you will find two new widget (MPE notes & MPE tasks).
Place them on one desktop and voila. The MPE sync will work with these MPE widgets but not with integrated Samsung Task and SNote. Only Kies is able to sync with Samsun Tasks and anyway not with SNotes.

But it seems not possible to sync attached pictueres or hand writed notes or other attached pieces as we were able to do with Windows mobile.

For syncing SNotes (SMemo) I use MPE File sync in a separate folder.

Hi @FJ
Sorry, same error. "Connection to Outlook failed!"
Steps to recreate.
Installed beta over current build.
Connected phone via USB, started client
Started beta, checked connection by looking at memory & monitor status
Ran Multi-Sync
Error.
If Outlook is started, then multi-sync works.
Cheers Buddy

Thank you and could you elaborate a little on your last statement: syncing Memo with MPE file sync?

Hi amsyh,

Ok,
All the SMemo (SNote) are stored in \Memory Stick\Application\SMemo\
So I sync this folder with a folder on my PC with MPE File Sync

In order to be able to read these SMemo on PC you ca open any ".png" file in the "swtcher" folder, these are in fact the resulting note in picture format.

Cheers

moscard: Sorry to bother you.
I tried, but I could not find the indicated file, \Memory Stick\Application\SMemo\, or the switcher folder. BTW, I am not using the galaxy note; I am using the Galaxy S2!

Thanks.

amsyh,
Yes, of course, "SMemo" is a particularity only present on Galagy Note for hand writed notes (with stylus). I misuderstood your request.

For S2 you have to use MPE note widged, but it supports only typed notes and it sync them correctly with Outlook.

The MPE Widgets are very nice and confortable touse, but do not support picture or attached documents.
