I use a Droid Thunderbolt and had previously been using HTC Sync with a USB cable to keep my Outlook 2007 calender on my desktop synced with my Droid. I have had nothing but problems and finally decided to try My Phone Explorer, since so many people rave about it. But now, after installing on Desktop and Phone, I am so confused! Please help, if you can, with the following questions:
1) I installed on both Droid and Desktop and synced via WiFi, and all went well. I opened MPE on my desktop and all my appts that were on my phone were in there, as were the contacts. Then went I looked at some of the settings, then closed the app, then re-opened on my desktop, all the entries were gone! Even though the appts are still on my Droid, they are not on my desktop version of MPE. Why is that? Even after I re-synced, nothing! (FYI< I have the settings on my desktop version set to "Only My Phone Explorer" and my Droid settings set to "Calendars to Sync - PC Sync", which is what I had them set to before).
2) If I need to change the settings on my desktop to outlook, please advise me how to do this so that I can keep up to a year, going forward and going backward, on my phone, but also ensure that all the appts in my Outlook 2007 on my desktop (going back many years) remain intact. I do not want any appts in my OUtlook to be deleted. I save them for posterity's sake.
3) How do I set up syncing so that I can sync my Droid with my Outlook, and have it update when there is a change on either one (I believe this is called a 2-way sync)?
4) ** IMPT- I would like to understand a little better how MPE works within Outlook (sorry, I am a bit of a newbie!). When syncing, does MPE actually update changes that are made on your device WITHIN Outlook on your desktop, or do you need to opem MPE and see changes within that calendar? I hope this question makes sense. What I am looking for (and hoping this app is) is something that actually updates and makes changes in Outlook itself, when I make a calendar or contact change on my Droid.
I so appreciate any and all help you guys can provide. Again, I am a newbie and really looking for a seamless way to sync between Outlook 2007 and my Droid.
Thanks!

1) Maybe a problem while writing the data-files. Should not happen, if it happens also the next time we will go deeper into it
2) Menu-File-Settings-Sync-Calendar(Outlook)-Advanced-Time range
3) Menu-File-Settings-Sync-Calendar(Outlook)-Advanced-Sync both
4) MyPhoneExplorer does sync all three databases (the phone, MyPhoneExplorer and Outlook if selected) |

Thank you for the reply. A few thingsL
1) This continues to happen, none of the appts in my phone are syncing now with my calender. For now, I will let this go, though, since my next step is to choose "Sync with Outlook" and right now, I have chosen to "Sync just with My Phone Explorer".
2) In regards to this, if I set the time range for one year forward and one year back, then this means that whatever data I have in my Outlook on my desktop going back years will remain in there, but only the specified data will make it onto my phone? (My biggest concern is to make sure nothing happens to those important dates in my Outlook calendar going years back that I want to keep).
Also, important to mention: Because HTC Sync has worked so horribly for me and I have not been able to sync in a while, I have many appts on my phone that I have added over the last few weeks that are not in my Outlook. By choosing "Sync Both", can I be assured that the newest changes (i.e. the ones on my phone) will make it directly into and be added to Outlook?
And going forward, how do I insure that the most current changes (be it on my phone or in Outlook) are the ones that are synced?
Thanks so much! |

1) please report your problem more detailed. At least myPhoneExplorer should show the appointments of the phone
2) the timerange affects only the data on the phone. Appointments outside the timerange will be deleted in phone
"Sync both" does sync the newest changes to the other side - what else would you expect ? |

OK, right now, under "Sync Settings", I have chosen Calendar, Contacts and Notes and all are set to "Only My Phone Explorer" (I will be choosing Outlook next, I just did this at first to get a feel for how this works). The first time I chose these settings and synced my phone with my desktop via WiFi, I saw all my contacts and calender appts from my phone on my desktop 0- i.e. a successful sync.
The next time I opened MPE on my desktop and opened up the calendar, all those appts were gone on my desktop. I thought that was odd, hit sync again, and still, no appts populated. They are still on my phone, but are not making it onto my desktop version of MPE.
I won't worry about it too much, since I will right now attempt to sync with Outlook, via the directions you gave me in my previous post. I am just hoping that once I choose the right settings, the new appts in my phone will carry over to Outlook on my desktop, with no issues. |

MyPhoneExplorer will not sync correctly your Outlook if the data are missing in MyPhoneExplorer. Press the second button "Download entire" in MyPhoneExplorer for contacts and appointments |

Ok, great! This helped re-populate MPE on my desktop to match my phone, thanks!
Now, If my next step is to start making sure that my phone, MPE on my desktop AND Outlook all stay synced, then can you confirm that all I need to do is the following:
Go to MPE on my desktop >File>Settings>Sync>Contacts> then choose Outlook 2007, and then do the same for Calendar, choose "Sync Both" and that's it?
Will I need to worry about getting duplicates? |

Yes, thats all.
Caus eof duplicates. On the first sync MyPhoneExplorer tries to link them by name/subject. In every case you'll get a confirmation windows BEFORE any changes are made (except you disabled this in the settings) |

So should I enable this in settings? Where would I find it?
Thank you for all your help. I am looking forward to trying this sync tonight and saying goodbye to HTC Sync forever!!!!! |

Its enabled by default, you should not disable it especially on the first few syncs. You find it in the same dialog where you can set the Outlook-Folder to sync |

Great, thanks! I will try my first Outlook sync tomorrow morning and if I have any issues or problems, will be sure to post here.
Thanks again for the support. Will be telling anyone I know who has HTC sync to go with My Phone Explorer instead!
Also, if I end up changing phones, will this work seamlessly on a different device? |

OK, well I finally bit the bullet and did my first sync with Outlook using MPE, and now I ended up with a lot of duplicates in my calendar.
For example, on Jan. 13 I have "Sydney's birthday" twice on my phone but only once in Outlook and once in MPE.
Other places, I see duplicates in Outlook and/or MPE.
How can I deal with this issue without having to go through and and every entry?
Also, should I be checking off "compare only changed events"? What is the purpose of this?
And, when I first open up MPE and try to sync and connect the phone and MPE via WiFi, it keeps saying that the connection cannot be made. Eventually, it does, but if WiFi is enabled on my phone, and if my phone is showing a connection to my WiFi with no problem, why is this happening? |

You can be happy that you are not alone in your confusion - I am also confused. And the frustrating thing about it is that I suspect that it only needs a decent manual to explain what is going on, and what the various settings mean.
I hope that I have finally got is sorted out, but I still cannot consistently get the Calendars to synchronise, and I think that is because I have to close Outlook, and have it closed for some minutes before attempting to synchronise (probably something to do with Windows saving files) - at least that is what my experience shows. |

Well, looking forward to some answers to the questions I posed above, but I am slowly working my way through the calendar dupliucates manually (until I hear otherwise), and other than that, I am fairly happy with this program. Right now, it sure beats HTC Sync, in my opionion.
Right now, though, because I am still new to MPE and don't "trust" it 100% yet, I am keeping Outlook, MPE and my phone calendar all on and when I make a change to any of them, I am confirming that the change occured on all 3. Still too new for me NOT to do this! |

@Cat: Why you did not check the sync confirmation ? On the first sync MyPhoneExplorer tries to link the appointments between phone and Outlook by Subject and Startdate. If these equals then MyPhoneExplorer will sync them together. On the next syncs the datasets are linked, so it will work then even if you change subject or start date. There is no feature in MyPhoneExplorer but there exists software to find and delete duplicates in Outlook.
The setting "compare only changed events" does not take effect here. First - its disabled on the first sync. |

Well, I am now well past the duplicate issues, as I went through and got rid of what I needed to manually. I have since been using MPE with no issues. |
