Hello there,
When I first used MPE to transfer all my Outlook contacts to my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S, with Froyo 2.2), all my Outlook contacts in which I had placed photos, transferred neatly to the phone - and I could see all these contact photos on my phone also.
However, after the initial transfer, now when I insert a photo to any of my contacts in Outlook, it does not get transferred to my phone after sync (even after 'force Outlook to phone'). Similarly, any photos of contacts which I have inserted on the phone, do not sync with Outlook.
Please could you explain and help me solve this issue.
Thanks,
DK |

This issue has technical reasons:
- MyPhoneExplorer does not compare pictures when sync, but they are transfered on special cases
- if you have updated a contactpicture in Outlook and there is already an existing photo in your phone then the photo will not be transferred to phone cause Outlook does reduce the size of the photo very much automaticaly
The easiest way: If you want to change a Picture which does already exist on phone then change it in the GUI of MyPhoneExplorer |

Hi FJ,
Thanks for your reply. Meantime, I found a work-around for this problem.
This way is a little long, but it is a sure method. Copy the contact in Outlook (to be changed) and change the picture in this copy. Then delete the original contact and Sync with the phone. The contact in the phone now shows the new photo!
Ciao,

@FJ The pictures cannot be changed from MPE GUI either! In other words, you can never *CHANGE* an existing contact picture unless you delete the contact in MPE and recreate (which is essentially what the workaround above is doing, too)!!!
I have tested to only sync phone with MPE. I set a contact picture to the new one, and after the sync with the phone, the previous version of the picture is displayed both in the phone and in the MPE GUI!

I can't sync newly contact images also, but can do this using the MPE GUI using HTC Desire HD, Android 2.3.3 in combination with MS Office 2010

I don't understand the technical limitation, also because the MPE GUI also resizes your image to 200x200 pixels, so I would guess this is the same issue as Outlook maximizes your image to 200x200?
The image is within the contact person data, so it should be comparable?
Anyway, it's just a bit frustrating to see that all data nicely is synced, but the image is 'forgotten'. Maybe it's not required to trigger on a change of only the image. When someone want's to have it synced you just change some other field also. But it sounds very logical to sync the image when some other data is updated on the outlook side...
Maybe you could have a customized field that states 'do not sync image' when people use a higher quality image (how can they do that?) |

Inbetween i know that Outlook 2010 does not reduce the size to 50x70, older Outlook Versions did this. I explained the technical reasons very often in the forum, i am tired to explain it again and again |
