Latest Update 18 Oct 2011:
I have been reading the forum and have tried just about every combo of patch, fix, 'test' and mod everyone has used to get around the problem below with no success. Apart from this, this app is pretty much perfect and exactly what is needed, sadly, without this working it's back to square one.
I have everything syncing and working as it should except for Organizer>Calendar when it comes to deleting entries.
What appears to happen and is 100% repeatable, is that it will delete one entry, move to the next and fail.
The error is always the same, ie it has lost connection and if you try to re-sync, it says it can't find the phone.
If you quit the app on the phone, restart it and re-sync, mpe now finds the phones but; a) sees the one entry that was deleted as new and adds it back in, b)deletes the next entry in the list and c) crashes again! A repeatable cycle.
This is so close but so far away!
Cheers

Hi, firstly let me say I am trialing this software to replace the crock of sh1te that HTC churns out - 100MB+ and still a pile of junk!
First impressions are it's very good, slick and does about 1000% more that what HTC does, so really impressed up to now!
I do however have one problem and cannot see the solution (I have checked the forum for similar posts) and that is I get an error message of 'Loading Entries from Outlook Failed!' when I try to sync the 'Organizer' section. Note that this also means I can't use the 'Add Event' either. Note that I can do a 'Download Entire' and that seems to work fine, ie no errors.
EDIT: - the sync gets about 50% through and then fails.
EDIT #2: - just notices that in Settings>Sync>Calendar>Advanced the 'Sync Tasks' check box is dimmed and cannot be selected. The popup menu is enabled and can be selected though.
EDIT #3: OK, have been 'testing' and it appears to sync the calender but stops at Events/Tasks. I have deleted all Tasks so hopefully eliminated that so it looks like it's Events related - what section is this updating?
Other than this, I think this app knocks the spots off HTC's lame offering and if I can get it to work, would be happy to make a donation!
May I also make a suggestion for the product name? 'MyPhoneExplorer' implies it is just for remotely looking at your phone so what about a name change to 'MyPhoneExplorer & Sync'? Adding that last '& Sync' also tells people looking on the 'Market' that this app also syncs too - had I seen this before, I would not have wasted so much time with HTC and the other junk that is out there!
Many thanks
UPDATE - 13-10-11
Nearly there!
Have updated the Client and PC apps to latest versions. I can now Sync the Calendar as long as there are no events to DELETE.
I have tested this by deleting all events on Outlook (panic) and then did a sync. In the previous version, 1.8.1, the sync would just fail.
In 1.8.2 the sync will now update Outlook and add the events back in (although very slowly) but if you then try to delete any events and re-sync you get the OK to sync (this is where 1.8.1 used to fail) and xxx the OK button starts the process off and perhaps one, maybe two might get removed and updated but after say 30 seconds, a dialog comes up with, "The connection to phone was lost!...". Note, I have checked the connection setting so it does not time out an also, this happens in WiFi mode too!
I have tried USB and WiFi connections and get the same error on both cases. It appears that the time allowed to complete the transaction (which really shouldn't take long) is timing out the connection as if there is some kind of polling occurring that is getting interrupted.
This is so close to what I needed and if I can get it to work, will definitely be making that contribution!
Cheers

There are often problems with lost connection when many calendar operations are done. After how many "actions " you get the problem ?
1.8.2 has a better error management, cause of this the sync is stopped at the right time. |

I can do all sorts of things, sync dozens of notes, update address books, etc with no problem. As soon as I try do delete a Task from the phone, it will delete one entry and starts the next one but loses connection. this is 100% repeatable. I then have to restart mpe client and now the deleted task is seen as a new one and so it get imported! If then goes to delete the others, deleting one and losing connection again.... and so on.

I already have that version installed - first thing I did was to check the versions were the latest ones. Q Out of interest, why do you think I was running an older version?
Thanks

I have tried USB and WiFi connections and get the same error on both cases. It appears that the time allowed to complete the transaction (which really shouldn't take long) is timing out the connection as if there is some kind of polling occurring that is getting interrupted.
This is so close to what I needed and if I can get it to work, will definitely be making that contribution!

Hi, nearly a month gone by since my last post but no reply ;( Sadly I am going to have to go back to HTC as syncing appointments is vital for me. If you do have a fix for the problem, even a beta test, I will give it a go but otherwise this is a dead one!
What I would like to know (and the reason I am looking at this s/w) is do you offer a stand-alone package that can just sync the MPE notes with Outlook? Using this and HTC will solve my problem
Cheers and good luck with the project.

I'm not sure that you can solve.
Anyway... I was performing the same problem when sync the "contact" with Outlook 2007.
I have no problem with Calendar and Notes.
But trying to sync Contacts I have always:
"Loading entries from Outlook failed!"
I have tried a lot of combination.... and at the end I have solved opening OutLook in the meantime you are syncing....
With both (outlook and MPE open) the Contacts sync works fine for me.
And is still do not work if I close Outlook !!
I think that when the MPE works with Outlook closed it going in confusing with the Outlook temp files... the file beginning with "tilde" ( ~ ) .
I'm not sure.. but works for me.
Try and let me know!

Hi PiCo
Have now removed the program as I have wasted too much time trying to get it to work and get little practical support. If the app worked and the support was decent, I think would have paid for this s/w. Such a shame as it is a nice interface too. Using 'Local Sync' now, it's ugly but it works! Cheers, |

Give me one more chance , just heard about a very similar problem
Are you using the "SmoothCalendar" widget ? If yes then please disable the realtime refresh of this widget and install the current beta of MyPhoneExplorer |

Oh, definately will! This is bar far the best sync app I have tried and if I can get it to work I'll use and recommend it! Will download and install it again now and report back with results. Thanks for looking into the problem. Cheers! |

Cheers! |
OK, looking good! I reinstalled and applied the patch and did a setup and initial sync. All went through OK this time but I am having a few sync issues - duplicates and the like which I am now resolving. I do have Smooth Calendar but have not made any changes to it but have synced OK. What I have noticed is that I now get an extra dialog appearing where Outlook asks for permission to access the file. I suspect this is where the previous version was crashing in that I did not get this message and so I suppose the sync 'timed out'.
Now, when HTC's own s/w does the sync, it does not display this extra security dialog and so I suspect there is a patch/fix to bypass this becuase if you dont see it and so ignore it, the sync will fail as before! The next obvious mod is therefore one to get around this dialog/annoyance!
I have also updated to Office 2010 and can report that it also appears to work fine in that too, same security dialog issue though!
If you need me to do any beta tesing....
Cheers
p.s. first donation made - as updates/mods come along, I will make extra donations. |

Pleased to report that all is still working fine, even with Smooth Calender installed. Just got the Outlook Security annoyance (outlook 2010) to get past (EDIT - use the utility ClickYes from ContextMagic - freeware) and find a way to auto-sync on a schedule and that's cracked it!
Have a good Christmas and all the best for 2012! |

I have been having the same problem for months. MPE is great - way better than anything else I've tried, but syncing the phone to Calendar (2007)suffers constant 'Connection to phone was lost' messages.
All other areas of the app work great:
- messages
- file transfers
- sync contacts - no problems at all
I have reinstalled MPE a couple of times and that has enabled 1-2 syncs, but then the problems returns. I have a lot of entries in my calendar, and I sync to both home and work PCs (both Outlook 2007). I have managed the situation up till now, but I need a solution that works.
I am on a Samsung Galaxy S2, running Gingerbread. Sync usually gets to the conflicts message, which I reply to, then carries on, and then fails a few minutes/entries after that.
Love this s/w - can you fix this problem please?
Thank you
Will |

- Do you have installed "SmoothCalendar" on your phone ?
- how many calendar entries are on the phone ?
- which client version you are using ? |
