TextInput Mode

TextInput Mode is a great feature in MPE and I would forever stick to using Sony Ericsson Phones just because of your wonderful software (i-e; MPE).

It would be ideal to toggle between TextInput Mode On/Off using a shortcut key on the keyboard.

Reason:
The reason you I need to toggle the mode because I use a Java Based MSN Messenger Client (Mobile ebuddy messenger) and use Text Input Mode for typing the messages. This works great but after sending every message I need to switch off the textinput mode otherwise I lose focus from the currently open message window and can't use the keyboard up,down,left,right keys to scroll between the messages. It always takes me to home page automatically.

I think i have a better solution: You would you find it if MPE detects itself if the phone is in Inputmode ? Please install the current beta and tell me how its working (note: this works NOT for Symbian-Phones) .

PS.: In textinputmode you can still use the navigation-keys if you press CTRL (f.e. CTRL+Enter, CTRL+Arrow down,...)

I uninstalled currently running MPE and re-installed the current beta. After installing the beta, when I run the MPE, I get following error message.

Run-time error '339':

Component 'Sport.dll1 or one of its dependencies not correctly register: a file is missing or invalid

The beta is only a update. Install again at least MPE v1.7.0 and then start the beta-updater.

Thanks, its working great and MPE detects automatically when I click on a contact to send message. I can also use Ctrl+L to send the message(a useful addition). Thanks for providing this beta patch which seems to work fine for me at the moment.

I will let you know if I will find any thing worth mentioning.

Is it possible to switch the textinput mode automatically off when Ctrl+L is pressed(i-e;just after sending the message) similar to automatic On?

Because text input mode remains ON even after sending the message and forces the application to go on homepage.

MyPhoneExplorer checks the status after every navigation-action. Maybe the phone needs some time up to the StringInput disappears. The Logfile after this action would help me to find out whats going wrong.

Can you please tell me where can I find the log file? I will send the log file to you to see what is causing Textinput Mode still "On" even after sending the message and coming out of text input mode.

Hi FJ,
Even after updating to the newest beta (i.e. 1.7.2-nightly) I am still having the same problem. There is a long delay in MPE before the textinput mode is switched off.

What do you mean with "Long delay" - how long it is ? As i saw in the previous logfile the delay should be < 1 second.

Please post again the logfile, but keep it short so its easier for me. Just start MPE, type 3 chars and then go back or send it.

Sometimes it takes more than 5 seconds or if lucky than around 5 seconds.
Here is the log file.
- I restarted MPE
- Went straight to Phone keypad
- Just Entered 3 charachters (i.e; abc)

Is there any better way to send the file? (e.g. email or attachment)

Strange, when i look at the logfile it still should happen in less than 1 second. I will install ebuddy on my K800i - maybe i can reproduce it....
