Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed

Hi all,

I've installed MyPhoneExplorer V.1.8.1 to work with my HTC Hero android phone because HTC Sync is not good enough, and I've always used MyPhoneExplorer with my former SE phones anyway.

Now my problem is that on this new environment I'm working with Outlook Connector, i.e. I'm using Outlook as a front end for several live mail accounts from Microsoft.

When I try to setup MPE to work with Outlook on "Sync", it correctly identifies my Outlook 2010 version, but when I press the "Advanced..." button the MPE just freezes there, and past some minute or so it displays an error dialog stating "Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed!".

I'm guessing this is because outlook connector creates .OST files instead of traditional .PST files, but this is just that... a wild guess.

Anyhow I would like to ask the forum if anyone else has seen this behaviour, if it is my mistake, or what can be done to make it work. I really cannot stop working with my hosted domain at Live.com and I really need Outlook to manage all my contacts, meetings and so on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am experiencing the same problem, but the message appears IMMEDIATELY when I press the "Advanced" button.

I am using Outlook x64 on Windows 7 x64 Enterprise. I have installed My Phone Explorer 1.8.1.

Any ideas? Is MPE compatible with Outlook x64?

@Heyns: MyPhoneExplorer is compatible to Outlook x64

@JPrates: MyPhoneExplorer doe snot matter of pst or ost. It connects directly to Outlook and walkes throught the directory - its a connection to the API of Outlook, not a direct connection to the mailfiles. Your problem should happen with all tools which uses the ActiveX-Interface of Outlook, did you already Google this problem ?

Hello to all
I'm also experiencing the issue with connection to Outlook 2010 from MPE.
I reinstalled Win7 and decided to migrate to Outlook 2010 version.
My environment:
Win7(64 bit), Outlook 2010, MPE 1.8.1.

My log file is:

My conf in MPE:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CLGBuY8K

pressing Refresh button doesn't help. I can't select Calendar folder and hence sync fails.
I googled with no result.

I started investigation deeper and deeper.
1. I opened Outlook add-ons and found out the MPE-Outlook add is not enabled
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CKfbk9YO
2. I ticked it and tapped Ok.
3. Tried MPE - no success
4. Tried to setup noted sync with Outlook
the same issue like with Calendar folder:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CM2Xov8E
5. then I removed MPE-Outlook add-on in Outlook
6. shut down Outlook,
7. re-install MPE to the same folder
8. MPE hung on the start during connection to mobile
but Outlook still says the add-on is not loaded:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CK6t9LwD

Could you advise why ActiveX cannot create necessary objects and how to resolve it?

in my previous configuration (Win764bit + Outlook 2007) sync between MPE and Outlook worked fine.

I appreciate your product. Thanks a lot.

I found necessary Outlook Add-in (MyPhoneExplorer_OutlookAddIn.dll) and tried to register it - outlook says it's not a valid add-in:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CKyBl6IM

Could you give me valid one DLL?

BTW my office version details are https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CNan-ugJ

I think you did not enable "Visual Basic Scripting Support" when you installed Office, this is a must-have to get it work with MyPhoneExplorer. On older Office-Versions this option was enabled by default

Hi FJ,

I checked "Visual Basic Scripting support" - it's was installed from the beginning - https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CNrohocK

Ideas?

In the last error message from outlook (when I tried to add addin manually) it says the library file is not valid.

Still unable to sync my mobile - it doesn't remind me about actual events and makes false alarms. :(

Just found throught Google: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/235009/en-us

The Addin is not needed for Sync but i think both problems have the same cause

Hi FJ,

My MS Office location is standard - https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CIuD07UF

As for registering the DLL - I found it's impossible.
I ran CMD as administrator and started registering the DLL. No success.
Finally I copied all DLLs and OCXs from "MPE/DLL" folder to " c:\Windows\System32" (consideringthe case "all dependent libraries should be found also") and ran
the "regsvr32.exe c:\Windows\System32\MyPhoneExplorer_OutlookAddIn.dll" command - No success.
Screenshot - https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0Bw1AbJ ... y=CJ3w6oEC

Is the problem with Office?
I have fresh win7 and other staff and just wanted to restore sync of the phone and outlook.
how can I debug DLL?

(I'm not ready to do this things yet - do not beleive the issue is in the system:
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f

subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=system=f
from http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums ... 16ac19d78/)

P.S. I have fresh DB (forgot about back up before Win re-installation, but kept DB folder, after some tricky actions I managed MPE to recognize DB correctly) under the MPE and old data in phone calendar. Even without connection to Outlook (Syunc option MPE only), MPE doesn't sync its calendar to phone (Seems like it has no some flag, like something changed and it's necessary to sync.)

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/offi ... b81143a040

For sure, they do not believe the issue with office.
They blame compatibility of Add-in with Off-2010 - to be honest I can't prove Add-in is compatible.
It seems like I'm in dead end.

Do you have ideas what to try next?

The guys from MS Answers are right. I forgot that the Addin cannot be executed in x64-Version, and thought that it has the same reason as your sync problem. For info: The sync and the addin are completly independend.

When you try to sync then its even not possible to load the Outlook-Object, so i have another simple test for you: Create a *.vbs-File with the following content:
Set myOlApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
MsgBox "My Outlook version is: " & myOlApp.Version
Then launch the script (double click). The script does load the Outlook-Object basicly in the same way as MyPhoneExplorer. If the script works then it should show something like Version 14.x.x.x, otherwise you should see a errormessage. Then tell me the result

MyPhoneExplorer uses the same interface and also the same command, so there must be something wrong with the access rights - as Gast told. Outlook and MyPhoneExplorer should be launched both with the same access rights

Hello FJ,

just checked the forum and found you message.
My outlook is set to run by regular user (my, do not as Administrator).
And I found out MPE was set to "run as administrator". I cleared that check box - and started MPE.

It works fine!!! I synched my phone with Outlook calendar finally.
(It was tough time for me without proper remindings and improper reminders - for about 2 months).
the solution was so simple.

Thank you very much FJ!

How do you set this? How did you know it was set to run by regular user?

Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed!

Sorry to add to an old thread, but ...

I had the same issue and discovered the message "Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed!" to appear only if Outlook was not active when I tried to change the Advanced Sync Options.

If I launched Outlook 2010 (64-bit, 14.0.6129.50000) before I started MyPhoneExplorer (1.8.4) setting the advanced sync options worked nicely.
