Category loss when syncing with Outlook

Hi -
Great app, thanks for making it available for Android - this must be a full-time job for you!
I am using version 1.8, a Samsung Intercept with Android 2.1 and Win 7 with Outlook 2007.
1 calendar problem- Most things sync very well, but noticed that if I have my calendar appointments "categorized"(ie color coded), I lose all category information on Outlook on the PC and any categories I set (either for an appointment or as a general category itself). I have the app set for Calendar - "Force Outlook to phone" but it changes on my PC anyway. Currently getting around this by backing up pst file before sync and then copying it back afterward.
1 "contacts" suggestion- it would be nice to be able to prevent "notes" on individual contacts from being included in sync to phone - that is, just have contact info (phones, emails, addresses).
Thanks again!

Calendar: MyPhoneExplorer does not change any categories on PC. Are you sure that MyPhoneExplorer raises this problem ?
Contacts: I see no sense to exclude the contactnotes from sync.

Calendar: Must be, it only happens after I do the sync. (Long ago I had given some of the categories new names so that "red" indicated an appointment, etc.) After sync, all categories go to the default white, and my category list no longer shows my new names for the categories. After sync, If I close Outlook and replace the file with my backup copy, they are back.
Contacts: My thinking was that I put some confidential information in my note section. I don't mind having them on my computer, but would be concerned if someone stole (or I lost) my phone.

What file do you replace in order to get the colors back?

I can confirm that Outlook Colour Categories are not sync'd.
I use these to group my contacts into work, home, family etc
On my home PC these are set up but the android categories remain blank
On my work PC, the contacts from home are sync'sd but the colour categories are lost.

Same issue

Hi,
I am using Office / Outlook 2007 and experience the same issue.
I am very happy with MPE, but this is a strange unexpected effect.
In Outlook, I categorized my contacts and calendar items in colored categories. Initially I had these synced using HTC Sync to my phone, which worked okay, but not as good as MPE wrt selecting each change.
Now I synced with MPE, and all color coding is gone in Outlook. I only sync my contacts, not my calendar (as I already did that through Google Calendar) - bur also my other categories, used in my calender, are all gone now. No color coding left.
Is this something that will be addressed in the next version(s) of MPE ?

Well, here's the very strange thing...
I experienced this issue twice yesterday after installing MPE. I looked in outlook, and my other categories, the categories itself were there, but just not the color coding. And when you selected the color selection (e.g. to filter on the categories) then it only showed defaults as 'Red', '' Organge' etc, and not the real categories.
I also stopped and started outlook without luck.
However.... This morning, al categories seem to be back!
All color coding is okay, and all looks fine in Outlook again. As well on filters, e-mails, contacts and calendar items...
So I am totally confused now, but it looks like it is a temporary problem of some kind. Perhaps Outlook gets confused by something, but some automatic validation or correction process fixes it...?
I know this sounds strange... but I'm very confident that yesterday I had there problems...
Thanks for the quick response in any case!

By the way, I don't know if it helps, but please add my vote to the wishlist of category sync as well

Perhaps we can move the feature reuqest a next camp up on the mountain

I'm certain it's due to Google as the categories and colors are stored in your default calendar.

I think I will be soon a great and happy user of MPE.
If it could be better than HTC Sync who explose my specific number ex: "+ 33 450 50 55 00 (only after 8:00)"
I use some comment in phone number with my Windows Mobile very long time.
So I'm test MPE just now (the sync is long, so I can write this message during it!)
For the problem of the post I suggest simply to try to reboot Oultook after the sync.
I have often loose my categorie in Outlook (some time without reason) and when I reboot they came back. Try it!
Very good job FJ, I think you will received a big donate if you can do best than the expenssiv software that I'm plane to try soon!!
love !!!! LOL

I have the same problem - I am not able to synchronize categories in contacts. And I think it is important to be able to have groups of contacts like family, work, etc. and to be able to synchronize them. (I don't mind the colors, but I need to be able to choose contacts from groups in my phone)
Where could be a problem? Thanks for answer!

MyPhoneExplorer does Sync the data, it does NOT give you a GUI to handle your contacts on the phone. If your installed contact Editor has not the Option to manage Groups then try "GoContacts" or "DW Contacts".
