Hi all,
I normally live in France (CEST) but I am currently on a one-month trip in Africa visiting Benin (UTC+1 with no DST) and Côte d'Ivoire (UTC, no DST).
I have a problem with the way events in the calendar are displayed in the Windows MPE client. What I mean is that the beginning time of events is adjusted depending on the current timezone configured in Windows. For reference, please see the screen capture.
As can be seen, some birthdays (July 17 and July 24) that have been entered years ago are offset one hour earlier and now span two days. Why? Because I entered them while in France — the computer's clock was on the CET/CEST timezone back then — but I am now in Benin (UTC+1). The timezone is the one just before CET so the event entered in CET gets offset with a -1h. Strange. When I was in UTC, the birthday events were shown as starting and ending two hours earlier. Just today, I added my mom's birthday (July 21). I wonder whether the entry will be offset one hour later when I'm back in CEST next week.
I find this offsetting very disturbing as I am no longer sure of the hour an event in my calendar is supposed to start. I didn't keep track of what event was entered where.
Feature request: can we have an option that displays event entries times in a uniform way? That is, an option that we can toggle to make all times consistent no matter which timezone we are in? Put differently, I wish there were an option to freeze event times and make all calendar times insensitive to timezone changes. Put differently again, timezone changes shouldn't change the time at which an event is supposed to start.
As a computer scientist, I totally get the timezone concept and how the times are processed but it doesn't make sense to me that the times events start and end can change depending on where one of my trips takes me. As a person entering event in my calendar, I for one am not interested in any time other than "the local time" whatever that may be. I want the time I enter to remain the same when I'm checking my calendar, no matter where in the world I am. I can't picture myself being in France and entering an event with a start time such that that start time will be a "normal" working hour time in Washington or Mumbai when the meeting I'm logging into the calendar takes place three weeks or two months later. Can you? |

The dates are saved internally in UTC-Format, this is IT standard. Depending on the selected timezone of the PC they can show earlier/later after the change. |

OK, I get it.
Can we still get the option (a viewing timezone to select from a combobox) that I am talking about for those cases when we change timezones but still want the calendar times to remain consistent?
The fact that times change in the calendar is disturbing to me. Am I the only one? |

There are so many background algos which are bound to the system timezone so that it would be problematic to add this setting. Requests about this behavior are very seldom |
