A nifty feature for MPE would be an option to add the selected (one or more) answered/dialed calls to the calendar (tagged with e.g. the "Phone Call" category). The purpose of this is to track phone calls from customers/partners and would be an important feature for billing. Would it be possible to include this kind of feature? Alternatively, would it be possible to add a hook into Outlooks "Call contact" feature? or add a "Journal entry"?

I'll take a look at it. A direct link to Outlook is not planned.

What about an auto sync function?

Already discussed. You can enable automatic sync if you connect your phone. A timeinterval is not possible cause i think the user should known when a sync is going on.

Hi,

I have an idea which I think would be pretty neat. (Sorry if this has already been asked for).

Scenario: I have an SE K800i, I have access to my linux webserver over the internet. If I could use the phones built in "synchronize" function with my linux webserver running MyPhoneBookExplorer (as a deamon or something) 24/7 that would be really cool :D

Then I could setup on the phone my server address: http://myserver.net and perhaps some credentials and sync whenever I want, or set the phone to do this automatic.

Much work - less sense

There exists already softwares for this task. You can setup your own SyncML-Server if you want.

inbox full

My SE w810's amount of text msgs is limited to about 110 (the actual maximum differs all the time, don't know why), which is quite small and therefor quickly filled. When I receive a message whilst the maximum amount of messages has been reached, I do get an alert on the phone but not on MPE, and thus I don't have any idea that there's a new message waiting (and can stay like that for a very long time).

Would it be possible to notify this as well on MPE if the inbox is full?

Oh and btw I can't increase msg size as I have cid50, it's just not possible.

Maximum-Warning in MPE is not planned.

A suggestion

Hi FJ, GREAT SOFTWARE. What would I have done without it.

Here's my suggestion
Create a help guide/file, and place a link into the menu bar. Most applications have that. I'm speaking in the point of view for the people who sometimes wonder what to do...

MPE couldn't be any more obvious really.. 5 minutes is all you need to figure out how everything works, that ain't worth a help file is it?

I created this app as intuitive as possible cause i think a application should work without studying documents. The second point is that its still impossible to create helpfiles for all languages.

If you have special questions then you can ask them here in the forum.

i'd really like a 'restart phone' option.

MPE is easier than using FARmanager for uploading config & xmls stuff etc, but would be a great option not to have to fiddle with the horrible button to restart on phone.

kind regards,
apes

AFAIK there is no command for restarting avaiable. The only thing which would be possible to turn the phone off.

Excellent software, for me is the best...
My wish, please do it compatible for symbian phones...[/code]

Two more suggestions:

1. I have selected to get a popup when receiving a new message, but when the chat window is opened, I also get a popup -> 2 notifications. It would be cool if you can deactivate this, because it makes chatting quite chaotic, and I really do prefer the popup instead of the balloon msg...

And less important:
2. I have set that MPE automatically multi-syncs with my phone when exitting. Now sometimes I just want it to quit without syncing, but going into settings and changing it everytime is a bit of a hassle. Is it possible to provide 2 modes of exiting MPE?
This isn't really necessary, but I'd really appreciate it

Great work FJ!

Okey, so that is doable, was searching around the net for linux solutions that could work, but have not had any success so far. Just thought it could be done with your software perhaps ;)

But, do you (or anyone) know of a particular "solution" like http://nicolas.bougues.net/syncml/ that will work? Most of those I found are a bit outdated.

Besides that, thanks for a really great product.

@Killer: MPE does already support the most Symbian-Phones. The P800, P900 and P910 is not supported cause technical reasons.

@Sté: 1) If the chatwindow has the focus then you'll get no popup. if the chatwindow has not the focus then i think its good to have a notification.

2) If you uncheck this option then MPE still will search for new and edited datasets before closing and if there is something to sync then he will ask you if you want to sync.

@sxxxe83: maybe a own solution makes too much work. What about using a free syncml-server like zyb.com ? Cause my decition to not implement this:
- MyPhoneExplorer doesn't run on native Linux
- its not designed to run as daemon (with automatic errorhandling, silenmode,...)
- how many people have their own windows-server and want to sync their mobile OTA (over the air) ? I think it would be usefully for 0,001% of my users.

Okey, thanks for info. Works great with "zyb.com", but I will still research and try to find a solution for linux+syncml server. It's just for fun, to have something to fiddle about. As I enjoy fiddle about with linux stuff at the time. Last "unnecessary" post in this category for me. Try to keep to the subject ;)

OK, if you need docs of SyncML or if you have technical questions about the protocol then we can discuss it in a seperate thread.

Thanks for that, will do. Don't know how far I will go, as I found that http://funambol.com/ had pretty much all I could ever want. Linux server is up'n running, and it is working as I had in mind :D
