works fine, but you have to check that /dev/ttyACM* have the correct rights to be accessed by normal users

Hi
Im running Ubuntu 8.04 and I followed this guide and got everything working just fine, there where alittle configuration and troubleshooting befor everything worked but.. that's the tradeoff

Is there any plans to release the newer versions of MyPhExp as a "linux-wine-version" ?

Kind Regards, Simon

Yes - with the next major version it will be possible to use the normal version with wine!

Sweet, any idea when that might be?

Right now google calendar doesnt work in 1.6.1
(Folder Structure could not be read)

I guess it's something google have changed that might have been fixed in the newer versions..

Kind regads Simon

You will never get a timeline from FJ, so no, there is no idea when it will be.
It will be released when it's finished.

As far as I can remember, google changed the API. So with Linux you have to wait until the next major version. But i didn't really know that these things (as google-calenders) work with wine over the iNet.

As far as I can see everything is working in my MPE, except google calander.. :)

Why shouldnt it work with things over Inet? Have faith in Wine ;)

Too much other problems with wine! :roll:

And I don't use Online-Calendars or something like that and so I just didn't know if it works or not.
And until know no other user made some comments about that! ;)

i just came around this site: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=10094

It describes fixme's for msxml. For your Info: The Interface to Google is handled in XML-Data. MyPhoneExplorer uses MSXML from Microsoft to generate xml-Files. At least MSXML v2 should work, better would be v3.

Hi all,

Thanks to FJ and s0l1dsnak3123 for making this happen. The script myphoneinstaller3.0.sh works for me, although I have to manually change the version number in the script's variable from "2.9" to "3.0" before it works. Otherwise, it'll keep prompting that a newer version is available and will not continue the installation.

Also, s0l1dsnak3123, you may want to change your final instructions "... then check Stable connection (for bluetooth) and click OK" to "... then check Stable connection (for both USB cable and bluetooth) and click OK" because although I'm using the USB cable, I must also indicate "Stable" connection under "Options". Otherwise, during the initialisation, MyPhoneExplorer will prompt that my phone cannot be detected.

Once again, thanks for the great work! Kudos! :D

Cheers,

Hi again,

I forgot to post my specs. Here you go...

* MyPhoneExplorer 1.61 (myphoneinstaller3.0.sh)
* Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04
* wine 0.9.59
* Phone = Sony Ericsson K610i (via USB cable)

MPE generally works well for my installation, except the following:

1. The SMS text doesn't seem to support Chinese characters? I suppose this is due to wine and not MPE? Does anyone know how to turn on international language support? Thanks in advance. :)

2. New SMS pop-up notification is deactivated. Can this feature be included in future release of MPE-Wine because it's really useful. :)

Cheers,
Phi1618 .at. gmail [dot] com

You can try an update to the last stable (1.6.7)

Take a look here or here.

As Manitougs wrote the chinese-characters-problem depends on MPE.

New SMS pop-up notification doesn't work with wine. With wine you must use the "stable connection" and there works generally no sms notification because in that mode MPE can't recognize events, such as new messgaes or phone calls.

And mani, MPE 1.6.7 doesn't work with wine...
But in the next Major-Release it will maybe...

Thanks to Mani and weinbi for the clarification. :) Hope it gets easier to incorporate Unicode handling in MPE in the future. Thanks!

I'm having problem with bluetooth connection. USB connection works perfectly. I've checked the "stable connection" function in MPE but my phone can't be recognized.

It tries to connect (I see the connection progress bar) but that's all. After a while appears an information that my phone can't be recognized.

I have no idea where's the problem :(

I'm using:
ArchLinux
SE K550i
Latest WINE
MPE installed using the latest script

Did you use the installer-script?
