I think I may be onto something, after googling adding a calendar to Outlook I did that but on sync it wants to add 590 events

This is not what I suggested to you and that doesn't work that way either

You must not use the original online google calendar on sync Outlook <> MPE
You should create an additional offline calendar in Outlook with the name 'Google' (jans\Google). You can also call it 'calender2' (jans\calendar2) that doesn't matter!
However, as can be seen in my screenshot, you have to allocated the calendars!!!

I have allocated the calendars and it does appear to be working but I will try to do as you say, I just can't figure how to get the appointments from google into Outlook as my Outlook is not on the internet it is pc based and google is o line. Can these appointments be copied and pasted?
I also have no idea how to create another calendar in Outlook

You should not integrate the Online Google calendar in Outlook but create a 2nd local calendar! Name it 'Google' or 'Calendar 2' that doesn't matter.

So if I am following up correctly. I have added a new calendar to Outlook which has no entries are the moment.
The events are in the google app yes.
How do they propagate to outlook? I have tried to sync and as per the other image outlook google is empty
do I sync one way first

Yes I have two calendars in my phone google is handy to ask what is on my calendar for today,and my calendar i can go back to 2003 on my phone but not with google
