Strange - are you able to test it from a windows-pc ? it seems like an error from the phone and not from Software or Operating system

Works perfectly on XP.

Here it is. Oh, and another thing. If i reboot, it won't even find the phone again and I have to do that bash wizard again.

OK, the error comes not from the phone

The whole communication breaks down. Maybe other Wine-Users in the forum are able to help you

Strange - first it works and then everything fails. What did you do when it stopped working?

I get this message when I try to run MPE
/root/myPhoneExplorer.bash: line 6: Dp: command not found
MPE starts up, but the phone can not be identifyed
Ubuntu 8.10 fully updatet
MPE 1.7.1
Use USB, do not have BlueTooth on this computer
Tried different phones, same result

When I try to start MPE it just shuts down immideately after it's fully loaded
After install I was able to connect to the phone, but after shut-down (normal) it will not start again.
Thought I would try to uninstall, but get the message that MPE is running and can't be uninstalled. This message is after a reboot without the phone connected.
Have Ubuntu 8.10 fully updated
MPE 1.7.1
Wine 1.0.1
VBR-6 also installed
This is very strange. Help would be appriciated

Hi guys, girls.
at the moment, the script works close to well for my GNU/Linux Debian Lenny with the last script :
http://sputnick-area.net/ftp/downloads/ ... -beta.bash
There is a bug resolved : the sed error when choosing the phone in bluetooth mode.
I still have a (only one) problem with my SMS, when I try to get thoses, MPE crash live & direct.
I post the Debug.txt, maybe some guys here can understand the MPE side that is not working.

Did you try one of the older scripts? such as
Version 3.4?

The problem now is that I can not install MPE because "its currently running" The program is not running! I can't uninstall it either "because its running"
I'm going insane!!!!
This is the last thing before the dualboot with XP will be removed and the Ubuntu will "stand alone"

The version of MPE have changed, the script need to be rewrited.
Gremling : try :
Code: Alles auswählen
kill -9 $(ps aux|grep -i MyPhoneExplore[r]|awk '{print $2}')

Woah!

There's a Linux version of MyPhoneExplorer?!

I'm SO glad to know that!!!

It was the only reason why I still had my Windows partition >.> It was a pain to always have to boot to Windows to dump my text messages on the computer.

There is no Linux version but MPE works with WINE.

Ok guys, sorry to don't maintain my script myphoneinstaller-4.x but it's really a pain in the *** to have a reliable state.
That works, but when I try to open a SMS that crash like I report before.
I give up for the moment, but there's a workaround :
I have virtualbox on my GNU/Linux/Archlinux and USB enable with my BlueeTooth dongle, I have XP PRO as guest system and everything woorks fine.
If you want to follow me, add this in /etc/fstab :
Code: Alles auswählen
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto,busgid=108,busmode=0775,devgid=108,devmode=0664 0 0
And add a filter matching your BT device in the virtualbox config.
That's the most reliable way I've found since I try MPE to work.
Cheers, sputnick

It works on Ubuntu 9.04

The only thing that I miss from the Windows version is that the texts aren't obtained automatically from the phone, so when I get a text message, it doesn't automatically open up a new window in MPE.

But other than that, it's good.

At least now I can be on Linux without any more issues

Bruno De Barros,
that will be interesting for everybody if you give a bit more details.
- Did you use a script ? If yes, which one ? Did you modify something ?
- Do you use bluetooth or USB ?
- Wich version of wine ?
- Which phone ?
- Which locales ? ( what return "locale" command ? )
Thanks by advance...

Same problem here. Solved it by removing every MyPhoneExplorer-Entry from the wine registry.
How to do that?!
In the directory "/home/$user/.wine" there are three files: system.reg, user.reg, userdef.reg.
First make a backup, then open with your favourite text editor and search for "phone". Remove every entry that relates to MyPhoneExplorer. There are quite a few of them, but once you managed to delete them, installation will succeed.
