This is a fairly new occurrence. I deleted some old videos on my phone, taking up less than a gig. The next time I synced, I got this HUGE file size and number of videos. it's like every video I've ever recorded is trying to sync.
Has anyone else had this issue? or is there a something I need to do to do to fix it?

Are you talking about file sync or photo sync? And if "photo sync" - did you enable the setting "Sync only new photos" in the settings? |

The option was selected. I think the issue is not photo, but video related. the sync is trying to transfer every video I've deleted. I think I might have to select delete files once synced. I didn't like to do that as I'm created a backup, but I still need the photos and videos on the phone.
I'll think about a workaround. everything else is syncing, just not photos and videos as I abort the process as soon as I see 20,000megs attempting to sync

Please install the current beta: https://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe
I think the videos were only renamed for recycle bin usage. I was not aware of this behaviour, but inbewteen its implemented: https://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe
If this was not the problem: Which filenames MyPhoneExplorer wants to transfer? |

If the 'Sync only new photos' function has been activated, entries should be created in PhotoSync.dat to ensure that the photos/videos are not transferred again, even if they no longer exist in the target folder.
Workaround:
Create the entry in the general.ini:
FixPhotoSyncDate=20230414
Thus, all photos before 04/14/23 will not be transferred and the PhotoSync.dat will be recreated |

it didn't work. the phone is still trying to sync 20K megs of data. I could try to reinstall. the photos are already saved. would it be beneficial to uninstall, delete the folder and then reinstall, or is there a date file I can just delete? |

Please confirm again which sync is concerned:
1.Sync photos
or
2. Files => Sync files
If 1
Then the workaround should work
if 2
I have no idea |

Please open the PhotoSync.dat with an editor and tell us whether all files are listed there?
This is example 2 photos and a video:

That file is not in the folder. this might be the issue. Thinking back about a month ago, I would go to sync my android, and when it got to photo/video sync, I would receive an error and the phone would be disconnected from MPE. A manual restart of phone solved this. This latest behaviour with the large files is new, but I wonder if it is related. as well, the general ini file which you asked me to amend was blank. I don't know if it is supposed to be.
Also, and this might or might not be a factor, this is all over WIFI. I occasionally use a cable, like when my phone is charging and I decide to sync, but all this latest behaviour is WIFI |

This file should not be empty under any circumstances, it contains very important information, without which MPE will not work!
I'm assuming it's the wrong path where that empty general.ini is located.
You can find the path for the MPE database under MPE => F2 => Advanced 2 => Database
1. You will then find the general.ini under [Database]MyPhoneExplorer
2. You can find the PhotoSync.dat in the subfolder of your Android device in the format: phone type [12345678-1234-1AA3-45CCCDC19B88] |

there was a lot going on there, lol. but what you did point out was that I was in the wrong folder. I was right xxx the shortcut and selecting open application folder. once I found the proper data folder, I added in your suggestion to the general ini file and now it works great. thank you for assistance on this. I really appreciate it. this is a fantastic bit of software and it keeps me sane.
Have a great weekend.
