as far as I can tell I can get all sms-es with phone control. The strange characters have also disappeared. I'd guess the problem somehow lies with your connection module. I do seem to be unable to get my contacts through this program.

just tried the phone at my work, exactly the same problem. Strange characters, crashing, and getting around 500 transfered with the stable connection and then it just stops. I did notice however that just before crashing it tried to copy sms from the sim (it said so), perhaps switching back ...

mailed the log. If I happen to find time tomorrow I will try a different computer at my work to test whether it is the phone or computer that is causing the problem. I am assuming no additional software is needed that I might not have at my work?

just tried it on a usb 2.0 connection, but there is no difference as far as I can see. The software doesn't seem to be able to find my phone through bluetooth.
