Thanks for the tip (BTW, I got to this thread by searching the forum, and as it's active, I posted).

The issue is that initial sync to google. I use my phone for business, so there is a lot in there that company policy (sensibly) dictates should not go into the cloud somewhere.

Thank you for the reply, FJ. I have been using and syncing PDAs for over 10 years, and the Samsung Android is the slowest in that regard. I noticed their version number for the calendar app is 1.0, so hopefully they'll fix its issues.

The not dropping when debugging could be related to a timing ...

Follow-up

When I chose a far smaller set (90 days back & 750 days into the future), the initial sync took 45 minutes. My initial estimate was 39 minutes, based on an observation of about 3 seconds per item.

I made one change on the phone and synced again, and it took just over 2 minutes to figure out what ...
