I don't like the idea of automatic (hidden) sync. The user should know when the device is synced. This is not a technical reason - its strategic
Knowing is fine by me... just throw a huge window on both the pc as the device or something. But initiating is another thing. I simply forget to sync if ...

People can use Tasker on android (search for it in the market) to automate the starting of myPhoneExplorer client when a known wifi network is found.

Works great, it first turns on wifi if I'm nearby my house, then searches for my ssid and when found, starts myPhoneExplorer ...
