Check if you did select "Stable connection" in the settings. In this case the notification does not work

hey guys. im using the MPE 1.7.6. anyways my message notification doesnt work. i need to manually refresh everytime i get a message. any ideas?
in settings, behavior, my message notification cannot be selected. \
im using a sony ericsson elm.
