Sony Ericsson K700i with iDream bluetooth dongle working correctly with MPE 1.81 in XP.

Some problems in wine however. (I did make a post)

I finally succeeded in getting bluetooth working in my linux (puppy Linux exprimo)
I installed 1.8.1
Then I followed the instructions in the first post specially the binding to com1 port.
I can connect to the phone (K700i) now.
My problem now is, that the icons on top of the right data pane aren't ...

I don't know yet if a USB cable is included.
If not those cable are pretty expensive, but I have seen bluetooth is supported in the Aino like in the k700i. So not too much a problem.

The fact of not being able to use WiFi, is this a restriction of the phone?

I am considering trading in my K700i for a Aino.
Through search I saw people use it with MPE.

Some questions tho.

Does MPE support WiFi to transfer data like contacts, sms, pictures to the PC?
How is the migration of all data like contacts, received/sent calls, received/sent sms brought over ...

Supplementary on this backup/restore feature.
If I create a backup on date xxxxxxx and I restore it at a later date, what will happen with the data at that later date? Lost?
And I'll have my phone in the same status as on date xxxxxxxx then?

I did a more thorough count and took the character ê.
When at 135 MPE shows 0 chars left in sms 2 (I saw indeed the indication UCS2) and as soon as the 136th is typed I get sms 3 66 characters left in message.

Its not a bug - the phone does it in the same way.
SMS-Messages are normally sent in the GSM-Charset . If you type chars which cannot be encoded in the GSM-Charset then MyPhoneExplorer converts the message to UCS2 (similar unicode). I am still puzzled at what will happen.

When I enter accented characters like ô the indication of characters left go from 159 to 68 (ô being the first being entered)

The program I was speaking of is a news client MesNews.
In the support group (French) some people didn't have problems with UAC enabled some others did have problems. When they turned UAC off the program worked.
It was never clear why this difference in behavior.

I have seen reports of other programs working ok in XP and giving problems in Vista. In that particular case simply disabling the User Account Control did the trick. Don't know if it could be of any use in your case.

I installed 1.6.6 I get the msg: Phone could not be dentified when I try to connect.
I redid the device detection and the phone was found at bluetooth dun port 10, as it was before already.

One question tho.
In Organizer, I see no more the notes facility.
It was there in 1.3.3 tho.

Do I overlook something?

Just installed MPE 1.3.3 (K700i, XP)
I saw the possibility to edit notes in the program.
But when I edit a note or create a note, on MPE program exit this information is lost.

Is this normal?
What can be done to have the new info stick?
