Installed PC Suite on my laptop here, then managed to sync via that program. Went back to MPE and that could also connect. Maybe the PC Suite installation added some drivers or something.

Anyway, it works now so thanks a lot for the assistance.

@Kira: Remove the line from the settings-file. it was just a try -> and it did not help.

@all: Are you able to sync the contacts with PC-Suite ?
Did you try a restart of the phone (reinsert battery) ?

Yes, tried a phone restart and laptop restart a few times. Also checked for software update for ...
