a few days ago I noticed that when looking at the Notes on the PC they are all messed up. The reason is that on the PC the new line is lost, so basically a list of items (which is what I mostly use Notes for) ends up in a single line, with no spaces in between.
However, that's a bit strange ...

For me now it works with only a minor quirk i.e. I cannot delete SMS on the phone, even after authorizing MPE to manage texts.

EDIT: Changing USB port apparently solved the problem but it was only temporary. After a while I was disconnected and could not connect anymore
