I can find notes.db and tasks.db and read them for my own uses (using python or php) but I would like to also read a similar database for the SMS messages and call log. but can't find them anywhere.

Is this possible to read these databases and if so, where are they located (the other files are ...

I am having the same problem with the latest MPE and Thunderbird 68.2.1.
I have a new laptop and it worked fine on my old one but since I loaded it onto the new machine it hasn't worked.
Says it needs the latest plugin but then can't find a suitable plugin so fails to sync contacts or calendar ...

This is also happening on my system - whenever any notification which is generated by either the MPE or an app like Google Maps and is shown on laptop screen, everything slows down after that and, like the OP, I have to reboot laptop.
This suggests it is more to do with Windows than MPE and I am ...
