No need to worry - having thought I might need to reorder the contacts in my Huawei by last name, in fact having just done the sync, all modified contacts are shown by lastname on the Huawei.

Not true for MPE, which still shows all contacts by first name.

Anyway problem solved.

Have updated my Contacts in Outlook and all are now displayed LASTNAME, FIRSTANAME, which is how I would like them displayed in MPE & also on my smartphone.
Problem is when I run multi-sync, MPE displays the Outlook contact as FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME - which is incorrect and I aborted the sync.

No worries - glad you are keeping busy.

In fact I could not reproduce the problem (thank goodness) - I suspect it was my fault as I had not set MPE for the 3 sync categories to Outlook.

Now that the Outlook Add-in has been removed, I do the multi-sync from MPE.

Thanks for that FJ. Things have now moved on since my post of 8 Feb - please see other more recent posts.

I have a problem with the MPE add-in for Outlook 2003. Not able to send emails in Outlook I spent a long time reinstalling email accounts, running Repair utilities etc. all with no change.

Finally found out that add-ins can cause problems in Outlook. The only one I had was MPE - so I uninstalled it ...

Thank you for that information. I checked my Sync setting in MPE and all were set to Outlook. In the Advanced section the only that was not set to "Sync both" was in Notes where it was set to "Force Outlook -> phone".
Can't see why those settings would produce the result I received.

Well I have answered one of my 2 questions.

To avoid MPE wiping out all my Outlook Categories, I synchronised by starting Outlook using "Start Multi-Sync" and not via MPE.

Does anyone know the answer to my other question?

Should I sync from Outlook with either of these 3 options: Sync phonebook (phone) / Sync organizer / Start Multi-Sync

or should I sync from MPE?

If it's the latter should I run : "Start Multi-Sync" or click on the sync icon and individually sync ...

Have just completed my first sync with Outlook / MPE / Huawei G300. Delighted with results EXCEPT that all the Categories I created in Outlook Notes & Tasks have been deleted and I have a new Master Category List that contains n.v.m.
I will have to recreate all my Categories, so how do I avoid this ...

Only just seen this post before I updated the compatible smartphones info.

Have just backed up all the data on my Huawei Ascend G300 to MPE 1.8.4 via USB cable.

All I did was connect the Huawei to my PC Win XP SP3, and installed the driver located on the Huawei in the usbnet_driver_wink2k_xp ...

If you were to upgrade to ver. 6.0 then you could export in .ics format.

Not sure how compatible the data formats are between 5.0 & 6.0

No problem with your English. Try exporting from Lotus Organizer as an ics file.

It worked a treat - only problem was that I tried to put a filter on the Export file but it seems not to have worked, as all my Calendar entries were exported. No wonder it ...

I understand that there is no synchronisation betwen MyPhone Explorer and Lotus Organizer and that you have to do an Export/Import process in order to get the Calendar etc. into MyPhone Explorer.
